Preparing for more shops/businesses opening on 15 th June:

TfL is committed to helping London’s economy restart safely and sustainably, it is vital that parts of the economy begin to open up but given the national requirement to practice social distancing, we must ensure public transport is available for those that have no alternative.

Following recent Government announcements, TfL has spoken with as many retail businesses as possible to update you on our plan to help London re-open carefully, share how you can help us in this endeavour and to listen to what you need from us.

To aid this we have developed and attached a short briefing for retail businesses which brings this information together.

As Government advice changes we will update this briefing and share it with you.

(DWP) has launched a new campaign around Universal Credit and COVID-19.

A new website has been created to provide clear, factual information on employment and benefits support with advice on housing, furlough, sick pay and self-employment, alongside advice and FAQs for employers, those already claiming and those making a new claim.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact upon the lives and livelihoods of people across London and the South East, this new website will be a vital resource for thousands who need concise, accurate information on the support available to them and their family.

Click here to download a suite of social media assets with approved messaging from DWP.

The new campaign content is simple and informative, with an emphasis on ensuring that all new and existing Universal Credit claimants are kept fully up to date with how to access the support available.
Fire advice (courtesy of Rias Insurance)

For many in this unprecedented time, home has become the very hub of life for all the family, doubling as a personal office, school, gym, cinema, bar and restaurant, even hairdressing salon! With all this extra bustle and activity, fire services across the country are emphasising the importance of fire safety throughout the house.

Coping with a fire can be devastating, with high financial and emotional costs. To help you ensure your home is safe and secure, we've put together some simple everyday checks and reminders for you, for example:

  • Smoke alarms are installed and regularly tested to check they are working

  • Electric sockets are not overloaded with plugs, extension leads and adapters

  • Appliances such as tumble dryers, washing machines, heaters and cookers are turned off and unplugged at night

  • Barbeques and bonfires are kept well away from fences, foliage and buildings
Facebook Live!

We have organised another live interview for Friday, June 12 at 11.00am. Our special guest will be Becky Coffin, Director of Communities at Heathrow. Becky has been leading Heathrow’s community response to Covid 19 – something we have been proud to report on in our regular emails to you.

Please email me any questions you may have for Becky about Heathrow’s local support during the pandemic. It’s also a great opportunity to flag up great people and local organisations you know, who have been working hard for others during the pandemic.

Email your MP

The plight of aviation jobs is very much in the news this week. If you live near Heathrow, you should have received an email from me asking you to contact your local MP, to remind them of the importance of Heathrow jobs to aid the country’s recovery.

Please take this chance to get in touch with them. Personal emails and letters really do make a difference to MPs. If you need me to resend that email to you (which includes your MPs email address) then please get in touch.
