Fullerton College will join communities around the nation in recognizing April as National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. On Tuesday, numerous men from the college community, including President Greg Schulz, will don red women's shoes for A Walk in Our Shoes to raise awareness. Additionally, the quad will feature The Clothesline Project throughout the day giving passersby a glimpse into the hearts and minds of assault victims and their allies.

Art Contest Open to All Students
Fullerton College students are invited to participate in the Diverse Perspectives Art Contest hosted by the Fullerton College Diversity Committee and Fine Arts Division. The contest is a juried exhibition available only to students to display artwork representing diversity throughout Fullerton College. Selected artwork can win up to $1,000 cash prize. Speech and Debate Team Wins West Coast, National Championships
The Hornet Speech and Debate Team finished their nationals season strong by bringing home the Community College National Championship at the National Speech Tournament hosted in Detroit and finishing Novice Champions at the West Coast Novice Nationals hosted in Fresno. Collectively, the Hornet program was awarded the Bulldog Award for a team meaningfully contributing leaders and friends to the forensics community, while maintaining competitive excellence. It was a picturesque ending to a speech and debate season.

Guided Pathways Seeking Student Input
The Guided Pathways Steering Committee seeks students to join the conversation regarding the new state initiative called Guided Pathways. Currently the college organizes academic programs in divisions (Humanities, Social Science, Business CIS, etc.). Students are invited to participate in a sorting activity that will ask whether there may be a better way to organize the programs. Softball
The Hornets have been dominating their opponents the past couple of weeks winning 12 straight games with an overall score of 85-6. On Friday, Fullerton shutout Riverside City College 6-0 for another Orange Empire Conference win. Up Next: FC (25-4 overall, 12-3 conference) will host Santa Ana College for an Orange Empire Conference showdown today at 3 p.m. Come on out and support the team!
Baseball
Fullerton had a rough three-game conference series against Cypress College last week falling to the Chargers in all three games (8-3, 14-6, 4-0). Up Next: The Hornets (7-21 overall, 3-12 OEC) will be at Irvine Valley College on Tuesday, April 9 at 2 p.m.
Women's Tennis
It was the final home game for sophomore Kim La on Tuesday, and the Hornets lost in a tough battle with Orange Empire Conference rival Irvine Valley College 5-4. It was sophomore day for La who was honored for her hard work and dedication the past two years by the FC coaching staff before the matches began. Fullerton managed to take two out three in doubles with wins coming from Ashley Castro / Savanna Schreiner-Vanhoutte, and Kim La / Janet Shiau. Singles-play went down to the wire with Hornet No. 1 Yu Seung Suh falling in a contentious match. Castro picked up a win by default and Schreiner-Vanhoutte pulled off a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Up Next: Fullerton will play in the SoCal on Tuesday, April 9 and then the Orange Empire Conference Tournament April 11-13.
Women's Track and Field
The Hornets competed Glendale College in the Vaquero Classic Invitational on Saturday. Once again, the team conquered 10 personal bests among themselves. Sam Starkey had a great day in the long jump with a big 16'3.25" effort that ranks her in second place. Jasmine Amaya jumped 15' .5" for her PR placing her in 6th overall in the OEC. Chelsie Davila jumped her PR mark of 14' 10". Myrna Gillas ran her best time in the 200M - 25.53 moving her in the top 10 rankings for SoCal. Alicia Victoria ran the 400M hurdle race and managed a two second PR with a time of 1:06.98. Shenise West won her heat in the 400M H and ran her best with a 1:16.27. West's time of 13.65 was her other PR of the day in the 100 meters. Raquel Aldama won her heat in the 800M race with a 2:30.73 effort. Rebeca Perez ran the 800M/1500M double and ran close to her PR's gearing up for her OEC championships. Kim Mataia had a good day in he hammer throw with a toss of 125' 9". Up Next: The Cerritos Invitational on Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m.
Men's Track and Field
The Hornets went to Glendale College for the Vaquero Invite looking to improve their marks with only two weeks to go to the Orange Empire Conference Preliminaries. In the sprints, Conley Hillegas placed 9th out of 56 competitors in the 100m, running 11.08 seconds. Xavion Steele took 8th out of 67 in the 200m, running 22.47 seconds. In the distance races, Ian Rusk doubled in the 1500m/5000m races. He took 8th out of 53 in the 1500m, running 4:07 and came back to take 4th in the 5000m, running 15:51. Up Next: The Hornets have a meet at Cerritos College this Friday, April 12.
