Meet new College of Science team members, review funding opportunities, and mark your calendar with upcoming events.
Each year, the college awards ten minigrants to undergraduate students, to fund research projects. The award period will be for one semester: Summer 2020, Fall 2020, or Spring 2021. Awardees will receive a College of Science stipend of $750 plus department-matched funds of $250 for a total of $1000.

Applicants must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a declared major in the College of Science. The application requires a faculty research mentor at Utah State University and a letter of support. Preference will be given to applicants who are pursuing their first research experience.

Students must apply before the  deadline on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

Jennifer is from Wellsville, Utah. She attended USU as an undergraduate and is excited to be back here teaching.

Jennifer's teaching experience includes high school AP Biology and biotechnology courses, online instruction of high school and college students, and teaching as a temporary instructor at USU. Her teaching interests now focus on creating engaging curriculum and providing quality instruction in Biology 1010 both online and face-to-face.

Outside of class, Jennifer enjoys the beauty of Cache Valley with her family. She tries to ski and trail run as much as possible.
Meet Kaitlyn Fjeldsted,
Computer Science's Advisor and GPC
Kaitlyn is originally from Kokomo, Indiana. She is the partner of USU computer science graduate, Gordon Fjeldsted. This year they bought a house and got a cat named Luna.

Kaitlyn's personal interests include playing Magic: the Gathering semi-competitively, shooting trap and skeet, and having large game nights with friends.

Kaitlyn came from Admissions within the School of Graduate Studies and enjoyed helping the applicants and students achieve their goals. She is very excited to start as an Academic Advisor/GPC!
