FMCSA Modifies, Extends
COVID-19 Emergency Declaration
Extension of HOS waiver valid for qualifying hauls through July 14

Members,

Yesterday, FMCSA announced it has modified and extended the duration of the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration until July 14, 2020. The original declaration was set to expire on Sunday, June 14. Please note, the modified and extended emergency declaration provides regulatory relief only to commercial motor vehicle operations providing direct assistance in support of emergency relief efforts related to COVID-19 and is limited to transportation of:

  1. Livestock and livestock feed;
  2. Medical supplies and equipment related to the testing, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19; and
  3. Supplies and equipment necessary for community safety, sanitation, and prevention of community transmission of COVID-19 such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, soap and disinfectants.

As of June 14, there will no longer be emergency regulatory relief for other categories of supplies, equipment and persons covered by the previous May 13th extension - such as fuel and liquefied gases to be used in refrigeration or cooling system.

Other waivers that are set to expire on June 30, such as those for expiring CDLs and CLPs, have not yet been extended. CTA will update membership as more information becomes available.
