President's Message
Craig Felton
2019 CTGCSA President

What a great start to the 2019 calendar of events with a record setting Turf Show and Legacy Scholarship golf tournament. Over $23,000 was raised thanks in large part to our VERY generous Affiliate members who graciously donated products and goods to a wonderful cause!

The McClure Match Play golf tournament is just a few days away. What a great way to honor all the gentleman who played a part starting the CTGCSA!! Prior to golf will be a round table discussion on Poa Annua control. It's been my observation that when you get a room full of grass growers, manufacture rep's and really smart University people talking about one of the most difficult challenges facing our industry, EVERYONE will learn something!! We look forward to hearing your stories of success and failures regarding this pesky weed!!

The month of May will bring the introduction of a new golf format with the Founders Cup. This two man match play event will be a season long golf tournament with great cash prizes, recognition and bragging rights. Find a partner and sign up soon as the registration deadline is fast approaching!

June will bring The Chapter Championship, more education opportunities and great golf at Kissing Tree Golf Club! We have expanded the payout of this golf tournament to include both gross and net winners in EVERY flight with a paid entry into the Texas Trophy at Kingwood Country Club in September.

Back by popular demand is the soft cover CTGCSA Membership Directory. This directory was last printed back in 2010 and will be available to all members starting in the month of June. Every effort is being made to make the 2019 version as accurate as possible, so please take time to review your membership information on-line to be sure everything is current and up to date.

I personally want to thank all those individuals and clubs who donated rounds of golf to both the CTGCSA Scholarship Golf Tournament and GCSAA's Rounds for Research. Over $2,000.00 was raised during our Scholarship silent auction and just last week 20+ rounds were submitted on behalf of CTGCSA to GCSAA for their on-line auction. Thanks again to all the Supt's out there who took time to ensure the success of this golf campaign drive!

Regard's

Craig

Event Wrap Ups

Beautiful weather, generous sponsors, welcoming hosts and great participants were the winning
combination in March at White Wing Golf Club. Members of the Central Texas GCSA gathered for a day
of fun and camaraderie. Thank you Event Prize Money Sponsor Turf Materials for helping out with the prizes.
Check out these photos of our great day and HERE for more.

Thank you Cash Lane (R) for a great day at White Wing.
Course was in really good shape and we had a great time.

Thanks to our always supportive and generous sponsors, our silent auction raised more than
$23,000 to fund Legacy Scholarships. The companies in the picture and many many more
donated products and services for the auction. We couldn't do it without you!!

And no Turf Day would be complete without a hotly contested golf tournament.
Congrats to our Tournament Champions: (l to r) Aaron Clary, Tyler Easterwood, Charlie Trammell and Matt Cowan. Great shootin guys - they clipped their nearest competitors with a smooth 54.

Second Place with a 59 in a scorecard playoff:
(l to r) Shawn McVay, Zak Harrington, Haden Dillard, Brody Dillard

Third Place: (l to R) Fred Larned, Steve Karsh, Zac Seith, Ryan Olson
Their 59 was pretty strong but not enough on this day. But they are still all smiles. Thanks for coming out guys.

Our very lucky and very affectionate 50/50 pot winner was Craig Loving (r).

Congratulations to our Proximity Prize Winners!

Thanks to everyone who made it to White Wing to make it a fun and very meaningful day.
Thanks to your participation and sponsorship, CTGCSA children will have educational assistance in the
form of Legacy Scholarship. See you again in 2020!
