Yoga in the Park continues. Join us in July!
This July, the Library continues to partner with NKC's Parks and Recreation team to bring outdoor yoga to Macken Park. Grab your mats and water bottles, folks! These sessions, facilitated by yoga instructor Amy Vance, are free and open to all.

Sessions are offered most Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings in July. Thursday sessions meet at 6:30 pm. Saturday sessions meet at 10 am. These classes meet near the the Gazebo/tennis courts at Macken Park.

Want to receive class reminders and/or weather cancellations? Go to nkcpl.org to register for the dates you plan to attend. (Otherwise, no need to sign up!)

Have questions? Email abrown@nkcpl.org. Hope to see you at Macken in July!
Summer Santa & a Movie @ Macken Park!
Join us at Macken Park on July 23, when NKCPL is teaming up with NKC Parks and Recreation to host a Summer Santa Meet-and-Greet ahead of that evening's Movies in the Park showing, which will be A Christmas Story. Santa himself will be on hand (in summertime garb, of course!) to chat with kiddos before the movie starts at dusk.

In the spirit of Christmas giving, this event will ALSO kick off a school supply drive! If you'd like to donate, please bring any items to the park that evening, and Parks and Rec will connect those donations with kids and teachers.

Can't make this event but still want to give? You can drop off any donation items at the Library or the NKC Parks and Recreation Center (1201 Clark Ferguson Drive, here in NKC), between July 24 and August 23.
It's not too late to register & read for SRP!
Summer Reading is underway, and guess what? There's still PLENTY of time to get registered and start earning reading rewards!

Now through August 7, readers of ALL ages can log their reading to earn rewards and prizes.

NKCPL's Summer Reading Program is truly for everybody -- infants on up! -- and you don't even need a Library card to participate. (Adult readers, if you haven't signed up yet, don't miss out: we're drawing for $500 in Amazon gift cards at the end of the program!)

You can sign up and log online, and even pick up your reading rewards via Curbside, if you'd like. Easy peasy! To learn more and get started, go to nkcpl.org.
Hey kid readers! Are you enjoying Story Safari? What?? You're not sure what it is? WELL. Head on over to your Summer Reading portal, where you can access daily Story Safari-themed fun via Page Turner Adventures during SRP: shows, stories, crafts, illustrators, authors, guest performers, virtual field trips, and more. We've even got some corresponding craft kits that you can pick up here at the Library (inside or via Curbside). Register/log in to explore new learning excursions each day!
Looking for an outdoor outing with the littles in your crew? Head on over to the Library's parking lot perimeter for a new Book Walk experience in early July: The Book Hog by Greg Pizzoli. After that (from mid-July onward), be sure to catch Bad Dog by Mike Boldt. You can stroll and read all month long!

Plus, check out an additional NKCPL-sponsored Book Walk at Macken Park this summer, offered in partnership with NKC Parks and Recreation. You'll find this Book Walk near the Howell-side playground at the north end of the park. Our July title? We Don't Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins.

And don't forget! You can log any walk-and-read minutes in your Summer Reading portal through August 7. You can log the Secret Codes that you find on these Book Walks too. Happy summer!
Starting in August: Some in-person classes!
NKCPL is gearing up to offer some in-person programs for adults here at the Library later this summer. At the end of July, join us for Medicare Explained with Andrea Wilt here in the building (for the first time in an age!).

Then stay tuned. We'll be offering some in-person programs for adults in August as well. Go to nkcpl.org for program dates and details, and to sign up to snag your spot.

Been enjoying Chair Yoga via Zoom? At this time, that class will continue online. And Yoga in the Park will continue to meet at Macken twice weekly (most Thursdays and Saturdays) through July. Hope to see you at the Library, or at a Library program, soon!
