A NOTE FROM PASTOR DAVID
A Time of Waiting

We are in a time of waiting- for the end of COVID 19 and the resultant ban on social gatherings including worship. We do not know when our waiting will end. The first disciples also lived in a time of waiting. They were waiting on the return of Jesus and his victorious reign. Jesus gave them this advice in Mark 13:35-36, "Keep watch for you do not know when the owner of the home will come back.....if he comes do not let him find you sleeping."

So I encourage you to:

Watch-
1. follow the community guidelines as they are announced
2. follow our church on Facebook Live Sunday mornings and Monday through Friday at noon; and Bible studies on Zoom (see below)
Be Awake-
1. Practice evangelism by sharing links of our worship and study content with friends
2. Coach others in our church on how to use this technology so that they can be included
3. Check on your neighbors
4. Go online and financially support our church to help us stay on mission in this crisis.

Stay on the journey.

~David
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ESPARZA FAMILY!
Micah Allen Esparza was born March 22 at 2:22 a.m.

The Esparza family is now home and doing well! Big brother August and big sister Felicity were thrilled to meet Micah. Felicity cannot stop saying, "He's so cute!" And August has given Micah his fair share of kisses. Chansin has been taking time to recover and bond. Jason has been working from home and is finishing many of his deck projects (his deck is lovingly termed "Decktropolis").

They are grateful for the kindness and encouragement from the church family, even as they know everyone is persisting through this hard time.

BEFORE THE SHELTER IN PLACE ORDER...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVID!
This is how we celebrated Pastor David's birthday on Monday, March 23rd!

As you can see, Deanna, Leigh Anne, Dick, David, Kim, Mark & Danny (taking picture) are doing their best to maintain proper distancing while eating David's birthday cake! Needless to say, this was a VERY short-lived 'party!'
ONLINE CLASSES/GROUPS/DISCUSSIONS
There are a number of groups and classes meeting on Zoom in the coming week. Zoom is a conferencing software that you can use from your computer, phone or tablet. You do not need to have a camera or a microphone to use Zoom. If you have a computer without a camera or microphone, you can still attend the meeting, but will only hear the conversation. You can, however, communicate through text onscreen.

If you are using Zoom on a device other than a computer, please go to the App store (Apple products) or Google Play (android products) and download the app before your class begins and test your audio and microphone (you have to give your device permission to use the mic and the camera). If you are using a computer for Zoom, there will be a onetime download of the software when you enter the meeting.

SUPER SILVER SAVER CUPS
During the season of Lent, many of us decide to make a special sacrifice to improve our physical or spiritual selves. This year, consider helping others by participating in the Super Silver Saver fund drive as part of your Lenten experience.

If you weren't able to pick up a Super Silver Saver cup from the church, you can still  set aside coins or bills each day, saying a prayer of thanksgiving for God's many blessings as you do so. Whenever we are able to gather at church again, we can bring in the money we've set aside and celebrate together our common offering of sacrifice.

The money will be used by the Missions Team to fund mission activities sponsored by our congregation, such as local disaster victims, flood buckets, students at Akins High School who are experiencing homelessness, Habitat for Humanity, Back Pack ministry, our missionaries, Food Pantry, Angel Tree Program, housing improvement projects, and manna bags for the fall festival.
