A Message from Your Senior Pastor
Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
 
I don’t think I’ll ever forget what she said.

When I called her Wednesday morning she told me about how grateful she was for the way the members of her Sunday School class and her pastors had been calling to check on her. She said how proud she was to call Broadmoor her church home. And then she said they words I’ll never forget.

“This is what we do. When the world falls apart, the Church comes together.”

I want you to know how proud I am of you and how grateful I am to serve as your pastor. This is an incredibly challenging time for us all, but you are handling this situation with the grace, compassion, and kindness of Christ.

It is beginning to look like this situation is going to be far more challenging, and have deeper and longer lasting impacts on our community than we can imagine at this time.

I do not say this to be overly dramatic or to instill a sense of dread or fear. I say this because I believe the most important thing we need right now, both from our elected officials and from each other, is honest, transparent, and factual information.

Please rely on the experts at the CDC , WHO , and Louisiana Department of Health for continued guidance about how we can work together to "flatten the curve."

I know these are challenging days. But, I also know about one of the greatest gifts God has placed within you, resiliency. So great is God’s love for you that he placed deep within you the ability to adapt and adjust and flourish no matter how challenging the days may be.

This God given gift of resiliency, activated by the power of the Holy Spirit, is what enabled Paul to write, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

Remember, even though it may seem as if the world is falling apart, as disciples of Jesus we have access to a strength that comes from above. Strength that helps us be resilient and come together in days like these.

Sisters and brothers, be strong, courageous, and resilient in the Lord and know I hold you in my heart.

While meetings on campus are suspended, please worship with us online via our livestream on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES AND SMALL GROUPS
Adult Sunday School classes and small groups are invited to continue the church-wide study of The Covenant: A Lenten Journey . The self-guided curriculum can be found here . You can do this study with your family from the comfort of your kitchen table.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE
Our congregational care team remains committed to offering excellent care to our congregation but is suspending in-person visits to hospitals and nursing homes. If you get sick, have a death in the family, or have another emergency, please call the church office at 225-924-6269 and follow the prompts to leave a message for the pastor on call.

HOW YOU CAN HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
