Dear Sponsors and Supporters,

We bring you greetings from Uganda and the USA with great thanks to the Almighty God who has kept us to this date.

In May we reached out to you with critical needs for the ministry. We are so grateful and overwhelmed with your response to these needs and are pleased to report over $23,000 has been received! These funds are being used to provide:

  • $12,300 for the purchase of motorbikes for our social workers at each of our 6 care points so they can more effectively care for our students and their families.
  • $1,730 to our HEAL Medical Center staff for protective gear as they are on the frontline in treating this covid pandemic.

The remaining funds will be used as we determine food and other critical support needed for our sponsored children and their communities and for startup costs and supplies when the children return to school.

We simply cannot thank you enough for the faithful support by you, our sponsors! Your steady monthly or annual contributions during this long season of pandemic continues to provide the essential needs for your sponsored child and their families, as well as staff salaries. Without this consistent assistance, the children, their families and many staff would be at a much higher risk with many basic needs not being met.

In our May letter, we shared that all students in Uganda were returning to school by July 1st. Since that time, Uganda has been struck by a second wave of Covid-19 of which 97% is the new Delta variant, and sadly a number of people are dying daily. On a personal note, Herbert’s family is recovering from the covid virus. While many have died in Uganda, we thank God that we have not lost any of our children or guardians to covid, and we are trusting God as the staff work through the measures and guidelines given by the Ministry of Health to secure them.

Due to this resurgence, another lockdown was issued on June 6th by the Ugandan government. All of the children who were in school were released from their schools in a short period of time. Many of the children have been unable to attend school since the start of the pandemic. We ask that you keep them in prayer so that this disruption will not hinder their interest in school. Thankfully university students continue their classes online, and our staff is able to prepare study packets for our older primary and high school students. Because of the ability to purchase the motorbikes, our staff can now more effectively care for the sponsored children and visit them more often. Together with the staff and children’s guardians, we are ensuring that the children are safe during this lockdown both against the disease and any form of abuse in the community.

Due to the resurgence of covid and subsequent lockdown, the U.S. mission teams that would have traveled to Uganda, unfortunately, had to cancel their trips. Since we cannot send your letters with a team this summer, we will be shipping them to Uganda on August 1st. Please mail your letter to Juna Amagara USA, P.O. Box 2384, Glen Ellyn, IL 60138. Our staff in Uganda will also be mailing letters from the children in the coming months.

For those of us in the Chicago area, we hope that you will join us for our annual celebration dinner on August 1 at Village Bible Church in Sugar Grove! (See invitation below! RSVP here: www.amagara.org)

Finally, we want to thank you for the support and prayers during this difficult time that sustain our sponsored children and families. May the Lord abundantly bless you.

We want to thank you for the continued support and partnership in carrying on the noble responsibility to reach the needy and vulnerable. Your work in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).
