Legislative Update - H0380 - Idaho's conformity bill was sent to the full House with a Do Pass recommendation today. Here are the specifics it covers: Medical expense threshold reduced back to 7.5% of AGI on Schedule A Mortgage insurance deduction Mortgage debt relief excluded from income Tuition expense deduction Energy efficient commercial building Support contractors for armed forces Investment Tax Credit for energy property Foreign subsidiary expense deductions 5-year cost recovery for energy property Increase age of mandatory distributions 70.5 to 72 years Payment of student loans are now a qualified 529 withdrawal   This bill updates Idaho Code section 63-3004 , to January 1, 2020. Once it passes the House, it should get through the Senate fairly quickly, and be passed by mid-month. But I don't want to jinx it. Our ISCPA Advocacy Page is a great place to start if you are interested in what's going on at the Capitol. There are a lot of interesting bills being introduced, especially relating to property tax. If you are interested, you can watch/listen via Public TV. All committee meetings are streamed, but two favorites are House Revenue & Taxation and Senate Local Government & Taxation .
