March 18, 2020

These are unprecedented times and we are once again tested as a church and community as we kicked off our Capital Campaign on Sunday when UUCA streamed the March 15 service. We heard from many congregants how happy they were to experience that service given these challenging times. These moments remind us that “We Are the Church” and we can come together through any venue – be it our sanctuary or virtually through our streaming service.

We are excited to inform you that the Capital Campaign has already secured more than $2.1 million in pledges, which is great progress toward our $4.5 million goal.

This $2.1 million puts us in a position to achieve one of the two goals of the Capital Campaign, which is to strengthen the church's financial foundation by retiring UUCA's mortgage and restoring the church's endowment, as well as increasing annual pledging, which will help UUCA operate day in and day out.

The second aim, which is just as important, is to strengthen our community – strengthen the relationships we have with each other, which are more important than ever now. Ministers, staff, and leadership are creating new ways we can be together.

The current situation with the coronavirus requires that we re-examine how we will conduct the rest of this campaign. We will be in touch once the Capital Campaign Steering Committee determines the campaign’s next steps toward achieving our goal while maintaining the health and safety of our community.

Times like these remind us what’s important. For us, and we are confident for you as well, family and a caring community are among the top of that list. We all know the positive influence and impact UUCA has had on its congregants and the surrounding community. Let's be courageous and embrace our future so that UUCA can continue its vital mission.

Thank you.
