News & Updates from AFF
Greetings!

I can’t believe we’re already at the end of this year – a year that has felt like it lasted five years! We are still in the midst of a global pandemic, and we are on the precipice of a historic US election that will alter the course of many lives one way or another, so it’s safe to say, we can only hope for a kinder, calmer, and less eventful 2021.

Since we last checked in with you in July with our quarterly newsletter, a lot has happened and I’d like to share some of the highlights with you. Explosions rocked Beirut in August, and we have a round-up of some of the interventions our network mobilized immediately to help. We’ve also gathered updates from our members on what they’ve been busy with over the past year so we can keep you up-to-date on what your peers are doing around the region. We also have some past and upcoming events to tell you about, and an update on some of the ways we hope to engage with you through the end of the year.

I’m looking forward to closing out this exhausting year on a hopeful and positive note, so please make sure to give us your feedback and let us know what we can do for you and how we can stay engaged.

I hope you all remain safe and healthy and thank you for your continued support and valuable membership,

Naila Farouky
CEO – Arab Foundations Forum

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Here are some additional resources from around the world we’ve collected that we think are helpful!
The Imperative of Moral Leadership, by Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation

We are experiencing a season of suffering—in the United States and around the world. The sum of all this suffering, of all this mourning, of all this daily grief, can be a crushing burden to carry, especially when it feels as though we must carry it on our own.

The road here has been exhausting; the road forward seems daunting, especially when it feels we are careening out of control or teetering on the edge of a cliff.

As we bear all of these trials, we face another test—a test that will determine whether and how democracy can long endure: A test of moral leadership.
Each month, Wild Apricot compiles the internet's biggest list of free nonprofit webinars. As we get closer and closer to Giving Tuesday 2020 and the year-end giving season, experts in the field are providing helpful resources on how to stand out and successfully fundraise at this time of year. November webinar topics include year-end fundraising, GivingTuesday, handling COVID-19 challenges, remote work, volunteer management, nonprofit marketing and much more.
Join Salzburg Global for a virtual program series on Philanthropy, Inequality and Leading Together Through Crisis, which will commence November 16 and conclude December 17. Salzburg Global Seminar seeks to have a globally-representative group of philanthropic thought leaders, executives, and experts from independent foundations, corporate and community foundation, venture philanthropy, impact investment, non-profits, advisory and collaborative funds, and research institutes. This event is free and open to all. FULL AGENDA
