SSO Statewide Activity Map
As districts across the state continue working through the March Single Sign On (SSO) push, our partners at CEPI created a color coded map of the statewide status of the SSO integration with MiDataHub in school districts across the state. The SSO map is similar to the participation map currently available (at the same link listed below) in that it provides a color coded status. Districts that have the SSO enabled are colored teal. The map can be found by going to www.midatahub.org and clicking on the “What is MiDataHub” pull down menu, then selecting the " District Participation" link

You will notice the map is rotating in a 10 second cycle rotation with the district participation map. If you would like to see the individual maps, click the “ View All Images ” link highlighted on the image below.
A few things to note on the SSO map are:
1.There are three status types displayed on this map:
  • SSO enabled - District is integrated with the MiDataHub SSO (Teal)

  • SSO not enabled - District is not integrated with the MiDataHub SSO (White)

  • SSO status not available - Current status of district is not available (Gray)

2.There are three different school types and shapes addressed on the SSO map:
  • Circle - PSA
  • Square - ISD
  • Varying boundary - LEA

3.The expanded window in the lower left corner is a blown up perspective of schools in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.

4.The map is updated monthly by the team at CEPI, and is updated with data collected in our data participation file.

Moving Forward with the March SSO Push
A huge benefit of MiDataHub is the Single Sign-On (SSO).
The MiDataHub SSO is becoming a very easy way for district staff and students to access a large number of the data systems they use. Right now the data hub cockpit, data hub dashboards, Algebra Nation, Career Cruising, Xello, MiRead and MiStrategyBank systems all leverage the data hub SSO. Additionally, the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Plan (MICIP) tool, which is being developed for use by all districts statewide, will utilize this method of access.

The true value of the MiDataHub SSO is found when districts connect their Google or Microsoft Active Directory logins to the SSO in a process called “federation”. The federation process does not require a district to have data in MiDataHub in order to work. It simply requires walking through a set of setup steps in Google or Microsoft, and emailing MiDataHub support with the information needed to complete the connection.  Often this requires less than 15 minutes of work for the district.

We would like to ask all districts state-wide to complete the SSO federation process by the end of March . Please see the documentation links below for instructions on how to configure the federation type needed for your district. We will shortly have an overview of these documents from our March 10th webinar listed on our website .

If your district uses something other than the three login methods listed above, please email support@midatahub.org to let us know.
Product Catalog
In the last few weeks the MiDataHub team and CEPI worked collaboratively to create two additional pages for our product catalog .
The two new pages are for,
  1. the UIC Services API (UIC Services API) and
  2. the Portable Student Records Service (Portable Student Records -Snackpack)

Both pages provide end users screenshots on how to configure the functionality, additional documentation on how the process works, contact information, and the status of the six Ed-Fi integrated Student Information Systems.

Please note most of the Student Information Systems (SSI) have either deployed the functionality (in production), anticipating a release this spring, or in testing .

Our team at the Michigan Data Hub meets with the SIS vendors on a regular basis and will provide updates on release time frames for these services directly on the pages above.

If you have any questions on the service, configuration, or status please let us know by sending an email to support@midatahub.org.
