Greetings:

When our spiritual ancestors were carried off into exile, they sat down by the rivers of Babylon and wept; asking how they could possibly sing the Lord's song in a strange land.

In light of the recent pandemic with the corona virus, pastors and congregations around the world are asking themselves the same question. How can we sing the Lord's song, when we can't even gather to worship? How can we sing the Lord's song, when we are afraid to touch the bread or drink from the cup? How can we sing the Lord's song in this strange and foreign land?

Years ago, I studied under a rabbi who taught his students to "pray as though everything depends upon God...but to act as though everything depends upon ourselves." This seems like sound advice, especially when combined with my favorite biblical passage: "The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies into your footstools." (Psalm 110:1)

As your pastor, I encourage us to all pray as though all depends upon God...and to act as though everything depends upon us. That means everything from washing hands to "social distancing"...which seems like a self-imposed sort of exile!

We will NOT be gathering to worship together this Saturday evening...but that doesn't mean that any of us are alone during this pandemic.
  1. Let's keep in touch via face book.
  2. Relax in God's presence through prayer
  3. Give God the chance to turn our problems into blessings
  4. Call or text me if you need me. 636.751.4024
  5. We'll worship "technologically" somehow this weekend.

Love you,

Rex
