Happy Birthday, Central Library!
The Digital Literacy Lab recently celebrated its first birthday on October 1, 2017. It's been a fun first year and we have accomplished a lot!

As we look forward to the coming year, I would love to hear some feedback on the Digital Literacy Lab and its offering.

Do you like the classes we offer? Have you learned a new skill? Do you have a cool story to tell? What would you like to see next? We want to hear from you!

Please consider filling our a How'd We Do Form - feedback goes a long way to helping us improve and maintain our services.
Build Space Invaders at Tulsa Game Developers
Learn how to build the beloved arcade classic, Space Invaders. Hosted at 36 Degrees North in downtown Tulsa, we will be guiding beginners, Space Invader enthusiasts, and those interested in creating games on how to use HTML, CSS and JavaScript to build your own version.

Tulsa Game Developers gives local programmers, artists, musicians and anyone else interested in game design a place to collaborate, share ideas and solve problems. And also just hang around and talk about games!
Open Lab for Teens, Thursdays 4-5
October 5th marked the beginning of a new standing event for teens in the Digital Literacy Lab. Every Thursday (except during the holidays), the DLL will be reserved for teens. If you have a teen, send them our way.

Design a video game. Draft your graphic novel. Create a video using our green screen. Open Lab is a time to work on your own projects.
Django Girls Tulsa off to a Good Start
This last weekend Central Library hosted Django Girls Tulsa - a 10 hour workshop for women. Women and girls from across the state spent their weekend building a webpage using Django, Python, and HTML5. We look forward to hosting more Django Girls Tulsa workshops - coming Spring 2018.

Django Girls Tulsa is a partnership between Tulsa City-County Library and the Techlahoma Foundation .
Digital Literacy Lab in the News
The Digital Literacy Lab and Tulsa City-County Library were featured among statewide Information Innovators in Oklahoma Magazine.

Kimberly Johnson, CEO of the Tulsa City-County Library System, adds: “Libraries have historically been the go-to location for knowledge. As technology advances, libraries adapt to new methods of providing information.”
