Dear Families,
At Roman Music Therapy Services, our vision has always been to create connections and build community through music. In everything we do, bringing people together through transformative, human-centered music making experiences is at the core of our mission. These values are what drive our business and the programs we offer to the community.
Like all of you, this week especially, we find ourselves looking for a “new normal”. Though we know this period of social distancing and hitting the pause button on daily routines is temporary, it can sometimes feel overwhelmingly uncertain.
We want you to know we are here for you and your families. We still want to make music with you, especially now. As many of you have been made aware, we are offering our Sprouting Melodies classes virtually. Maureen, Katie, Meredith and Kim will provide real-time Sprouting Melodies during our regularly scheduled class times, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. With these virtual classes, our families are invited to join in at any scheduled class time with what we are calling unlimited access. We encourage you to select age appropriate groupings as we all know the music experience is different for each age group and we want to support optimal engagement. At the same time, we won’t turn anyone away from a class. Just know that your 2 year old might not be as engaged in a Sprouting Melodies 1&2 class.
We understand that with the reduction in places to find enrichment for your children outside of the home, you may be looking for activities to engage in, so we encourage you to “log on” and make music anytime during the week. If you have not received how to access these classes, please reach out to Michelle for information. Michelle will be working a reduced schedule for the next few weeks, but she will be available in the office from 8:30AM - 12PM, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. If you’d like any instruments to supplement your Sprouting Melodies class, we have drums and maracas for sale in the center. Contact Michelle for purchase info and we will be happy to mail them out to you.
Life will return to some semblance of normal eventually. I am choosing to look at this time as a gift. Though there are many uncertainties and short term anxieties, I have not had this much uninterrupted time with my children since they were babies! Our days typically consist of school and work, then after school activities or play dates. Weekends are packed with birthday parties, athletic or performance obligations or social engagements. In the past three days we have slowed down, drastically, and I have been savoring these days of being together, without any outside distractions. Try to focus on the things you can control and that bring you joy, and breathe through the stressors and the unknowns.
Please reach out if you need anything. We are here for the community we are proud to be a part of. Stay healthy, and keep making music!
Jen, and all of us at Roman Music Therapy Services
