Annual Conference: See What Happened

Nearly 250 souls—amounting to record-breaking attendance—participated in the ATEC annual conference in Wichita. The March event, hosted by WSU Tech in partnership with Textron Aviation, provided general session and breakout content, networking opportunities, and for the first time, a student career fair.

Even with the wide variety of topics discussed during the general and break-out sessions there were two prevalent themes: alleviating the technician workforce shortage and reversing the negative perception of career technical education. These issues took center stage in conference sessions highlighting the Choose Aerospace campaign, results from a recent survey of aviation recruiters regarding candidate shortfalls, and a new Kansas pathway program.

Area schools, companies and regulators are invited to attend local outreach meetings, free to all attendees thanks to our generous hosts. The following events will facilitate discussion on council initiatives, strategic objectives, and ways ATEC can support the local aviation maintenance technician education community:
