" AMERICANA "

Dear friends,

Welcome to my "PHOTOBLOG" Newsletter, a monthly publication which is being sent to clients and friends, to keep them updated on my current photographic interests, new works and future developments.

My goal is to format the Newsletter around a short series of images, which I will try to describe briefly, so that important or interesting details will be easily available to the viewer.

Most of the imagery displayed here will also be on view at       " IMAGES" Photographic Art Gallery, located at 14406 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, and I would be happy to extend to all an invitation to stop by sometime for a visit.

As always, I will appreciate your comments and suggestions pertaining to my work, and , should you enjoy these images, please feel free to share the "PHOTOBLOG"

 " AMERICANA "
The "Americana" theme is meant to bring back nostalgic '50-60's moments, places, situations and "stuff " that will reconnect us to those earlier days when life was simpler, may be slower or less frenetic. Of course, you might have to forgive me if I fail in depicting this earlier world correctly, since I was rather far away in those days...yet I can relate to the concept well as I think of my earlier days spent in Italy. As I searched throughout my files to find  images able to convey the idea and the "mood" of earlier times, I was really intrigued by the "feel" of these moments, ever more difficult to encounter these days, and for this reason even more precious.
The challenge of recreating with images a time long gone has been fun and well worth the effort, and I certainly hope to have been successful in my search...let me know!
 

A BBQ countryside Grill, in the middle of nowhere is the first image; below, an old decommissioned police cruiser, now probably cheap transportation for the "boys", along with an old red pick up truck and a picnic table in rather poor shape, likely the best spot for the BBQ Grill customers to finish off their fried chicken and fries...
The "French" Bargains- in- the- basement shoe outlet, an old fashion boot shop for decades in Nashville: a "classic" indeed!
May be the last cone shaped ice cream shop in the world...! This is in Florida.

A classic side walk sign seen in Tennessee; the decades old Collision Bend Cafe' in the Flats, and the old Goldfish store in Downtown Cleveland, now gone for a long time, and a weather torn "watering hole" sign in the Keys.

A rather crowded Florida pool, filled with " snow birds" exercising by the music in the water, or leisurely sun tanning on those white vinyl lounge chairs.
Below, probably one of the oldest McDonalds in the Country, with a gigantic Ronald saying hello' to everyone going by!
A beautiful Merry-Go-'Round, always a great spin for kids of all generations!

 Baseball...the great summer American past time: here the big boys are winning in CLE, for a change...!
Classic Grill choices and Hickory smoked meats out in the country.
The "Strand" Marquee, the old Key West Theater at night, now a big tourist trap.
A covered bridge, this one not in Madison County: you can find it near Akron.

It's "Miller time" in the Flats!

A small beverage Corner Store in the south, and a patriotic bench in the N-E.

 

 

The Bait & Tackle shack, where you can still rent a fishing trip out to the Gulf with Capt. John; an old ice cream truck, still travelling from one festival to the next one. Above a  Carnival being set up, with the Cotton candy stand and some great rides soon to be open for everyone.

 

  

 

"IMAGES" Gallery is currently showing
"LENSWORKS"
 a new exhibit of photographic works I have assembled for you as the Gallery reopens following the Christmas Season, along with a large series of Karen Petkovic wonderful oil and acrylic paintings, still on view throughout this month. A "closing" for her works is scheduled on Friday, February 14th ( 3 to 6pm ) and Saturday February 15th (12 to 4pm ): all are welcome to meet Karen and view her latest creations.
The Gallery is usually open on Fridays  and on Saturdays ( 12 to 4pm) as well as by appointment on other times/days...feel free to get in touch!
