GGUSD Named among Nation’s Best for Music Education

GGUSD has received the 2019 Best Communities for Music Education Award, a distinction presented to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students. GGUSD is one of only four districts in Orange County and one of 18 districts across California to receive this national recognition. Our top-notch Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program is well deserving of this honor. Click here to read more about this awesome accolade.
Peters K-3 Receives Generous Donation
Peters K-3 was presented with a $1,500 grant by the Denny family courtesy of the Pacific Life Foundation to purchase a new green screen and Dot & Dash Robots for the school's STEAM LAB. This is the second time this year that Pacific Life Foundation has displayed their generosity to the Peters community. Last July, over 120 Pacific Life Foundation volunteers came out and beautified the campus with a splash of color on the blacktop, a new school mural, and new flexible seating in the library.
Special Soccer Tournament
GGUSD's Special Education soccer games were chock-full of intensity and excitement! Students from across the district came together to have some fun and flex their skills on the soccer field. The day was full of ESPN-worthy highlights and an exciting penalty kick shoot out. In the end, it was all about having fun and focusing on students' wonderful abilities.
Crosby Alum Brings Inspiring Story to Elementary Students
Former Crosby Elementary School student Maria visited with Crosby kindergarten students recently to share about her journey and provide an update from college. Maria graduated last year from Garden Grove High School and is currently attending Cal Poly Pomona. Kindergarten students were inspired by her story of academic and personal success. We are grateful she returned for a visit and had to take her photo by the graduation banner that hangs at Crosby to celebrate the success of Crosby Elementary School products and GGUSD grads.
Eisenhower's New Learning Garden
Eisenhower Elementary School kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Velazquez, Mrs. Halter, Mrs. Howell, and Mrs. Gerstner, and the school's resident "Garden Expert" Mr. Keeney spent their first day of spring Break building a new kindergarten garden. The staff can't wait to plant seeds of knowledge with kindergarten students and watch them blossom!
