The BOR, in conjunction with the Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC), established the CSCU Shared Governance Award in 2016 to annually recognize a CSCU institution for its outstanding contribution to shared governance within CSCU. Shared governance is defined as communication, collaboration, and mutual accountability between administration, faculty, staff, and students which advances excellence in the operation of CSCU institutions.

The committee agreed that Three Rivers has forged a new shared governance model that fosters an environment of open discourse, transparency and reflection.  Three Rivers was chosen from a pool of applicants by a four-member Selection Committee made up of current members of the FAC and BOR. 

Students, faculty and staff gathered on March 25 for the annual Legislative Breakfast featuring State Senator Cathy Osten as well as representatives from other offices. Alice Pritchard, Chief of Staff for CSCU President Ojakian, also joined the group. 

Joseph Victorino, President of the TRCC Student Government Association, spoke about the creation of the Student Leadership Council at Three Rivers. Senator Osten discussed ways that the state was reducing costs and went into detail on the funding of former pension programs. Pritchard also answered questions from the audience on Students First. 

Frederick-Douglass Knowles II, Hartford Poet Laureate and associate professor at Three Rivers, will be the keynote speaker at the College's fifty-fourth commencement ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday, May 22 at 5 p.m. outdoors on the campus green.

"Frederick-Douglass's community activism, appointment as Hartford's inaugural poet laureate, and close ties to Norwich made him a natural choice for Commencement Speaker," said Three Rivers President Mary Ellen Jukoski. "We are honored that he will be speaking and fortunate to call him one of our own."  Read more here.

• Timothy L. Taylor - Former President, Oakland Community College, Auburn Hills, MI- visited Three Rivers on Wednesday, 4/3 at 3:30-5:00 pm. 

CSCU President Mark Ojakian announced on March 13 that an agreement signed between six Connecticut Community Colleges and Charter Oak State College, Connecticut's public online college, will guarantee students of the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program admission to Charter Oak's new online Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The Jordan Porco Foundation recognized Rhonda Spaziani, instructor and former Director of Student Programs at Three Rivers Community College, with the Janice Fletcher Memorial Award. This award was created to recognize a Fresh Check Day coordinator who embodies the same spirit and commitment of Janice Fletcher, the former Director of Counseling at Lasell College, who passed away last July. Spaziani received the award at the eighth annual Jordan's Journey Gala on March 23, 2019 at the Hartford Marriott Downtown. Read more here.
