2020-21 instructional materials approved
Each year, the Texas Education Agency and school districts across the state review instructional materials for new adoption cycles. Trustees approved new materials for the 2020-21 school year following a selection committee and staff review to determine the new materials.

The selection committee worked with campus leaders and teachers to select new instructional materials for English language arts and related fields, including ELA electives and English for speakers of other languages. To read the committee’s selection process and overview, click here.

Pre-K update received
The district is currently planning expansions to its pre-K programs, including potential pre-K additions for elementary schools proposed as part of the 2020 bond referendum in order to provide a full-day program across the district, as mandated by House Bill 3.

HB3 also requires Texas school boards to consider establishing pre-kindergarten partnerships with outside organizations; however, as no proposals were received, Northwest ISD will continue the implementation process on its own.

Information about Northwest ISD’s pre-K program can be found here.
