At-Home Discovery Kits

Thanks to the support of donors and the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, the VI Children's Museum was able to distribute 200 Water Science themed At-Home Discovery Kits to low income families throughout the Virgin Islands. The kits were curated for children from kindergarten through 5th grade and a more advanced kit was created for children in middle grades and high school with a total of 91 kits delivered on St. Thomas, 84 kits on St. Croix, and 25 kits given to families on St. John.

In September, GlobalGiving ran the #LittlexLittle campaign which encouraged online crowdfunding that they would match 50% up to $50 on GlobalGiving projects.

In five days, 79 people donated $8,215 to help the museum reach its GlobalGiving goals. The majority of donations came via Facebook but some were sourced from Instagram and other online networks.

#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.

We are happy to announce that the museum is open to serve our community! As we are still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, it's very important to maintain the safety of our staff and visitors. All group visits must be scheduled on our website; groups are limited to 20 people. After each visit, our staff does a thorough cleaning in preparation for the next group.

The VI Children's Museum teams up with VI Wildlife Research!

It turns out that social distancing is no obstacle for citizen scientists! October left us all more knowledgeable about some of the wildlife that call the Virgin Islands home.

The first 2 weeks of October was dedicated to collecting data for the 2020 Great VI Frog Count. Didn't get to participate this year? Don't worry! Follow VI Wildlife on Facebook for more ways you can contribute to science.

Halloween was even more fun during #BatWeek as the VI Bat Team shared entertaining and educational information on bats of the Virgin Islands! We also had some really cool art submissions for the #BatWeekArtChallenge. Click here to listen to Kitty Edwards read "Bats at the Library" by Brian Lies.

October was National Art & Humanities Month and the VI Children's Museum was happy to be a part of it! Thank you to the VI Council of the Arts for featuring us.

Books for Peace makes a home at the VI Children's Museum!

Congratulations to Kashish Chainani on bring her Books for Peace project to life! We are honored to be the stewards of the B4P library.

As always, My Brother's Workshop did an amazing job creating this mobile library that sits outside the museum during operating hours.
