The Friends of the Library are having their annual meeting at the Library on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00am. Come join them if you'd like to talk about the library programs and services they make possible throughout the year. They'll also be electing their officers. The current slate is Carolyn Dorval (President), Diane Creasey (Vice President), Mary Hescock (Secretary), and Ellie Chesebrough (Treasurer).
The Friends of the Simon Fairfield Public Library are hosting a plant and book sale on Saturday, May 25, from 9:00am to noon. If you have any seedlings you'd like to donate, please contact Ellie Chesebrough at 508-476-7066. Thank you for your generosity! The money raised by Friends through events like these provide greatly enhance the services the Library is able to provide the community.
If you are looking to learn the basics of Microsoft Office, here's your chance. Owen is a Microsoft certified trainer and Douglas high school student who is leading a series of classes at the Library for his senior project. He'll show you the basics and then have you follow along a guided practice sheet if you bring your own devices. The classes are at 7:00pm. He'll be teaching Powerpoint on April 9, Word on April 16, and Excel on April 23.
On April 17, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, Dora Acosta will be leading a craft session for grown-ups. We'll be creating paper mache eggs with quilled paper flowers. All materials are provided, so just come, craft, and leave with the coolest egg ever.

Very soon, we'll have a web page up with Summer Reading information. I'm excited about this year. Two of our programs will have to be in the municipal center gym because they are too big for the Library. We're working on another joint program with the Senior Center, hoping to bring kids and seniors together. It's gonna be good...

I have also been mucking around above the drop-tiles and have finally gotten the program room downstairs hooked up for plug-and-play video and audio presentations. A few years ago, we tried to make movie nights at the Library an ongoing thing, but it ended up being too much effort to maintain because setting up the room for quality video and audio was a 30-45 minute procedure involving duct tape and cables everywhere. We're going to give it another go, so stay tuned for showings in the library. This will also make it very easy for presentations, so let us know if you have a powerpoint or prezi you'd like to share with the community.

Thanks for Reading,

Justin Snook
