With SCOR sponsorship leading, she helped develop the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS), Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics (GLOBEC), and the Global Harmful Algal Blooms (GEOHAB) international projects. Liz also provided secretariat support in the early development of the Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ) and the Integrated Marine Biosphere Research (IMBeR) projects, which were co-sponsored with the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP).

Liz organized the 1998 Bellagio workshop on Graduate Education in Oceanography in Developing Countries as a Means to Understand Global Environmental Problems, which eventually led to the establishment of two Regional Graduate Networks of Oceanography that continue today. She also conducted the 1982 and 1988 Joint Oceanographic Assemblies and worked on the Committee on Climate Change and the Ocean, including particularly the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) and the WOCE Scientific Conference held in Paris in 1989.

As Grant Officer, Liz is to acknowledge, among many things, for the timely reimbursements to the SCOR scientific community as they attended their working group, project, and capacity development activities and for keeping track of the SCOR grants and memberships. As she prepares to leave SCOR and retire in Canada close to her family, once again Liz passes the baton to Ed Urban, who will continue to support SCOR as a Financial Consultant.
