Legislation Committee Hearing Updates
Last week, the House Energy Resources, voted out of committee, propane legislation that would exempt propane container manufacturers from Railroad Commission licensing and testing requirements as well as gives the Commission more flexibility on LPG licensing.

This week, there is a frenzy of activity at the Texas Capitol. Texas Propane Gas Association has three legislative committee meetings this morning alone and more in the days to come covering such issues as motor fuel regulatory authority, alternative fuel taxation and alternative fuel grants funding extensions.

Stay tuned next Monday to read a recap of some of the hearings.

Legislative Budget News
Last week, the House had a late night talking it out past midnight to pass a $251B budget bill unanimously. Both the Texas House bill that passed and the Senate budget plan would provide an extra $9 billion for school finance and property tax relief.

A whopping 300 amendments were proposed to House Appropriations Bill.

Some of the amendments to House budget bill included diverting some TERP grant funding to have EV charging at the Texas Capitol and reducing TERP funding over two years to the tune of $43M to pay for 122 additional personnel for the Texas Department of Public Safety's Crime Labs and increase crime lab capacity.

TPGA knows after its eligibility expansion last session several our members have used the TERP funds recently to switch their truck and bobtails to propane so we wanted to let you know there are still additional steps to get the budget adopted so I wouldn't be too worried about these amendments just yet.

Speaking of TERP, find out how you can take advantage of current TERP funds and complimentary grant writing services by checking out the April edition of the Texas Propane magazine that will be in your mailbox by the end of the week.
