Dear St. Louis Families,
Good things are happening all around St. Louis! Students have been busy this week completing book reports, memorizing multiplication facts, creating beautiful art work, and writing gratitude notes. Our first trimester is winding down and while students are ending unit studies and taking summative assessments, they are also spending time completing some fun seasonal projects. Remember that the trimester officially ends Tuesday, November 24th and report cards will be sent home December 4th. Thanksgiving Break begins Tuesday, November 24th with an early release at 12:15pm. This is a calendar change from our original calendar, so please make a note of it and remember that there will not be EDC in the afternoon. Please take a moment to share your experiences from the first trimester with us here. We value your input and feedback.
It’s Discover Catholic Schools Week in our diocese as well. Typically this week begins with open houses, but because of the pandemic, we shifted to hosting online virtual tours. Our Admissions team has been busy conducting several virtual tours for prospective new families. We also began accepting applications November 1st for new families interested in our school. We are grateful for the increased interest in our school!
Each day that we are able to have instruction in the brick and mortar setting, we are extremely grateful--know that we give thanks for our school community and the extra precautions everyone is taking in order to allow us to continue in-person instruction. We are certainly mindful of the governor’s press conferences and are watching attentively with fingers crossed that there is no disruption in our ability to provide in-person instruction.
The CDC has posted updated holiday travel recommendations to include social gatherings over the Thanksgiving holiday. Please remember that if you are traveling out of the DC, MD, Northern VA area or are hosting extended family or friends, that you plan to e-Learn Dec 1st-4th and be in touch with the school nurse with your plans. A reminder that there is no school Nov. 30th—it is a special day off from Bishop Burbidge.
In this month of gratitude, we have so much to be thankful for and many blessings. I am most thankful for family, good friends, and our wonderful Hawk community that bring joy each day!
Have a blessed weekend!
Peace,
Anne M. Dyke

If you do not wish for your child to take part in this curriculum, there is an opt-out form here.
