Creating Unforgettable Family Moments Through Accessible Arts Experience

Audio-Reader staff and friends

Many of Audio-Reader's programs and services focus on news and information that supports our listeners leading full, independent lives.

But a full life requires more than access to the most up-to-date local news or grocery store ads, it also involves experiences that bring us together as a community, and creating meaningful connections between us, and our friends and family. This is why Audio-Reader also offers access to arts and entertainment programs for those who have difficulty reading standard print, or experiencing live arts and cultural events.

In December of 2019, Audio-Reader described a live performance of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical at the Lied Center. Audio-Reader listener Travis brought his family including his two young sons. He described the event as a life-changing experience. "For a brief moment in their lives my boys were just like every other kid and their dad was just like everyone else. We could all experience the excitement together."

Make a Difference for Audio-Reader and Help Yourself at the Same Time

If you are at least 70 1/2 years old with IRA funds you no longer need, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA. Your QCD can go directly to charity, supporting a cause you love. If you are 72 years old or older, your QCD can count towards your required minimum distribution (RMD)! When you take funds from your IRA, they count as taxable income. But if you transfer them to charity, you reduce your taxable income while satisfying your RMD. When you transfer IRA funds to Audio-Reader you give listeners in need the opportunity to stay connected with their community. Want more information on this unique way to give?
Thank You Kansas Lions Sight Foundation!

In January, Audio-Reader attended the Kansas Lions Mid-Winter Rally where various Kansas Lions Chapters meet to discuss current issues and plan for the year ahead. We presented to the Kansas Lions Sight Foundation who unanimously voted to renew their support for our partnership, which is now 30 years strong! The KLSF provides funding for our satellite transmission fee, part of our Braille and Large Print Program Guides, and various subscriptions. Thank you, KLSF, for your support and belief in our mission!
