Board Recognition

Brandon Wilson, U.S. Senate Youth Program

Brandon Wilson, senior at Lithia Springs High School, was recognized for his selection as one of two students from Georgia for the U.S. Senate Youth Program, a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing a career in public service. In addition to a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., Brandon will be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship.
Youth Leadership Douglas

Graduates of the Fall 2019 Youth Leadership Douglas Class were honored for their participation in the program, which is a partnership between the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce and the Douglas County School System.
Consent Agenda

Board approved HVAC renovations for South Douglas Elementary School.

Action Agenda

Board approved:

  • Partnership with Harvard University to increase the use of high-quality educational research and data among school and district leaders, Board of Education members, and principals
  • Certified and classified personnel

Also present were Superintendent Trent North; Assistant Superintendent of District Operations Kwame Carr; Chief Financial Officer Greg Denney; Assistant Superintendent of Student Achievement Melanie Manley; Executive Director of Communications Nell Boggs; and Secretary to the Superintendent Melanie Nicholson.
