NISD Wins Gold Medal for Blended Learning in Global Learning Impact Awards
Northwest ISD won the Gold Medal in the Blended Learning Optimization category for the Global 2021 IMS Learning Impact Awards, highlighting the collaboration between the NISD Technology Division and ClassLink.

The award recognizes education technology projects that demonstrate evolving traditional educational delivery models and feature a seamless technology environment for teachers and students to support effective combinations of online and in-the-classroom learning.

ClassLink is the platform used by NISD students and staff members to log in and access digital learning tools. It was instrumental when the district moved to Remote Learning because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also provides engagement analytics for teachers and automated class rostering.
NISD's Lyndsie Smith Named Principal of Nance Elementary
Lyndsie Smith, the assistant principal at Granger Elementary School, was named principal of Nance Elementary School at Monday night’s school board meeting. Smith will begin transitioning to her new role this week, working alongside Principal Penny Bowles who retires at the end of June.

“I am looking forward to this incredible opportunity to serve the Nance community,” Smith says, who describes herself as a servant leader who believes in teams working together to achieve their goals. “I wholeheartedly believe it takes a village and that our schools have to work in partnership with our families to best support our students.”

Smith has a heart for teaching and leading, and she enthusiastically describes the joy of seeing a student succeed.

“The glimmer in a kid's eye when they understand something is the most fulfilling feeling. To see that excitement and fulfillment in a kid is something that we’ll work to achieve every day at Nance Elementary.”
Summer Learning Spotlight
Camp Invention Sparks Creativity in Students
How does a microphone work? What's the best way to launch a rubber duck? What kind of device can you use to power a car?

Those are just some of the questions students explored at Camp Invention this summer. Each project gave campers the chance to test theories and come up with creative ways to solve problems through STEM. Students could attend the four-day camp in person at Lakeview and Schluter elementary schools or online through virtual activities.

Summer enrichment opportunities are taking place across the district all summer long. Visit www.nisdtx.org/summer to learn more!
