Traffic Update: February 11, 2020

As construction continues to move forward on the Longhill Road Widening Project, please be advised of the upcoming scheduled lane closures. In the interest of safety for both motorists and the construction crews, please use caution, stay alert, avoid distractions and pay attention to road signs and flaggers while traveling in the work zone.

Upcoming Lane Closures:

  • VDOT has been notified that Virginia Natural Gas contractors will have lane closures under flagger control in place in the vicinity of the Longhill Road and Olde Towne Road/Devon Road intersection, between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., as well as overnight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. This work is currently scheduled to continue this week and is estimated to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

  • Continuing weekdays as early as Wednesday, Feb. 12, contractor crews will continue the installation of storm sewer underneath the roadway, which will require single-lane closures on Longhill Road in one direction at a time, at the eastern limits of the project near Williamsburg West Drive, starting as early as 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This work is estimated to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

This work is dependent upon weather conditions; therefore, the schedule and duration of the work is subject to change. Access will continue to be maintained for local businesses and residences.
