We're not even two weeks into Lent, but in our impatient world it seems long enough already.
Let's look at Lent as a private retreat, a time to think a little less about ourselves and a little more about God. How about this way of looking at prayer, fasting, and almsgiving:
Prayer:
instead of asking God for something, say a prayer for someone who needs it, whether you know them or not.
Fasting:
for just one day, let's curb one of our appetites (a soft drink or an extra helping) and think about someone who has much less than we have.
Almsgiving:
let's put someone else first, giving a little extra of ourselves to one of our friends or family members.
