The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
Dear Families,

In the wake of so many new changes in response to the COVID-19 virus, we want you to know that we are here for you. Many children will be at home for an extended period of time. For the time being, to keep everyone safe, our in-person events and training sessions are on hold, but we are finding ways to connect online.

We are curating resources from PBS Learning Media to help the learning continue at home. You can find many here, and we encourage you to set up a free PBS Learning Media login to create folders, share ideas online. Need help navigating this awesome resource? Please see the bottom of this page labeled PBS Learning Media Resources.
Be sure to visit klrn.org/learning and connect with us at education@klrn.org with anything you would like to learn more about.

With Appreciation,
The KLRN Education Team
INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - SCIENCE
Happy Camel Once you and your child start looking for things that move, it’s amazing what you can find! At the market, the wheels on the cart go around and around when you push it; the pan on the scale goes down and back up when you put vegetables in and take them out; and the conveyor belt at the register moves sideways with your groceries. What other moving things can we find at the market? Can we find more things that go around and around, up and down or sideways?

Daniel Tiger's Trolley Lots of toys for two-year-olds are made for pushing and pulling — like dogs to pull by a string, doll strollers to push and toy trains to pull and push along a track. As your child plays, draw her attention to how these toys move as a result of her actions. Whoops! The dog fell over when you pulled it around the corner! or Your doll carriage is stuck in the doorway! How can you push it over the threshold? You can also support her learning about pushes and pulls by joining in her play with ramps, cars and blocks. The car rolled all the way down the ramp! How can you get it to go back up?
INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - LANGUAGE AND READING
Daniel Tiger - Something Special for Dad Reading aloud to kids is "the single most important activity for building knowledge for their eventual success in reading," according to a landmark study. When kids sit next to a caring adult and hear engaging stories, they develop positive associations with books and build their vocabulary and comprehension skills.

Literacy: Reading at Age 2 Young children are all "pre-readers" who pick up clues about reading from their environment. This is great news for parents — you already have everything you need to help your child succeed. Two-year-olds have exploding vocabularies and are eager to explore their world with you. Every time you read to and talk with your two-year-old, you build their early literacy skills. As children's author Emilie Buchwald wrote, "Children are made readers on the laps of their parent."
PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - SCIENCE
Patterns are everywhere! In this week long learning adventure , children will discover what a pattern is and explore patterns in different ways.

Evidence of Weather . Students observe and explain various images of weather phenomena.
PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - LANGUAGE AND READING
Sesame Street: Letter M in Motion Letter recognition takes center stage as we find many Letter M words.

In this Martha Speaks interactive story , students learn how the choices we make about our trash have different consequences for our environment. A discarded soup can end up in a landfill, whereas a reused or recycled can could become something new!
PBS LEARNING MEDIA
PBS LearningMedia is free and can be used by anyone, but it was designed with teachers in mind. You can use it with the Remind app, Google classroom, and you can even create folders for your own reference and to share with your students, colleagues, and families.
