BullFrog AI Secures $200K from TEDCO Seed Fund

TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announced today that its Seed Fund made its first investment of $200,000 in  BullFrog AI , a biotechnology company located in Montgomery County. 

BullFrog AI uses a proprietary artificial intelligence platform called bfLEAP TM that enables biopharmaceutical companies to be more successful in their clinical development programs. The Seed Fund money will contribute to additional development work with John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory not-for-profit research center. The funds will also support commercial activities to create partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies for future research.

TEDCO's Entrepreneur Expo Wins Maryland Economic Development Association Marketing Award

TEDCO’s Entrepreneur Expo has been chosen for the 2020 Economic Development Marketing Award from The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA). The MEDA Awards recognize the truly excellent projects, programs and people in the Maryland economic development community. 

The Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland is creating a database of Maryland manufacturing companies that make components, technologies, materials and products needed to fight COVID-19. If your company makes components or end products for the medical industry, add your company to the database using this form.

The I-Corps program is an immersive learning experience developed by the National Science Foundation for researchers, faculty, students, and others to determine if the problem they are working to solve exists on a larger scale in the market.
 
To date, more than 200 teams have engaged directly with Johns Hopkins I-Corps program which challenges participants to test their hypothesis on their technology's relevance and viability through customer discovery, which will lead to viable value propositions. Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures offers I-Corps programs to teams throughout the year.
 
Over the course of four weeks, participants will talk to at least 40 potential customers, stakeholders, users, and influencers to determine the real value of their technology.
 
The I-Corps program is FREE and upon completion makes you eligible for a $2,880 Grant.
 
The next cohort will be taught by Elizabeth Good Mazhari and will run from May 1st through May 29th,  Applications are accepted through April 15th. To apply to participate in the program and receive webinar access, please follow this link JHU I-Corps.

National Science Foundation, Request for SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposals Addressing COVID-19

The Division of Innovation and Industrial Partnerships (IIP) of the Engineering Directorate invites US-based small businesses to submit Phase I proposals focused on the development and deployment of new technologies, products, processes, and services with the potential to positively impact the nation’s and world’s ability to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. Areas of research that might be considered include, but are not limited to: artificial intelligence, digital health, diagnostics, distributed ledger, environmental technologies, medical devices, pharmaceutical technologies, disinfection and sterilization, and filtration and separations. Interested proposers are invited to submit to the NSF Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I Program.
