ASID is proud to recognize companies who are putting human health and wellness and a concern for the environment at the forefront of their innovative desi gns.

MEET TWO OF THE WINNERS

Company: Tarkett
Product: The Garden Walk Collection

Tarkett believes in placing people in the center of every space, and designed the Garden Walk Collection for the human experience of the aging population, based on the evolving needs of this next generation. Using soft nuance and fluid movement, this warm array of color and pattern gently alludes to organic materials from the outdoor environment and embraces the imperfect beauty of the natural world. Each sophisticated design carries deep, soothing tones that create a tranquil atmosphere that lends itself to feelings of well-being for senior living spaces. Inviting, reflective, and restorative, these spaces are designed for the overall wellness of body, mind and soul.

Company: Stickley
Product: High Line Curved Gathering Island

While some furniture takes up space, Stickley's patented Gathering Islands create it. Gathering Islands are designed to fit like a glove behind a variety of sofas, offering additional seating, functional shelves, and workspace. Coming in several heights, the Gathering Islands are built so the shelf aligns with the back of the sofa. Lights, laptops, and cell phone chargers can be plugged into the integrated power strip, while the cable management system keeps cords neat and out of the way. Stickley's Gathering Islands are hand-crafted in Central New York from American oak or cherry with wood or stone tops. Wood finishes are water based and environmentally friendly in accordance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Course Summary:
Performance of outdoor decorative lighting involves much more than lamping and light
output. Outdoor fixtures must also withstand the damaging effects of climate and location, including
UV, salt spray, humidity and extreme temperatures, and they should be environmentally friendly.

In this  one hour course, design professionals will become familiar with fabrication and finish considerations for  maximizing UV & corrosion resistance and
environmental compliance of decorative outdoor light  fixtures.
