April 1-5: Gainesville City Schools Spring Break - PreK parents required to sign-up for care. Parents of all others are requested to indicate if their child will be attending as we plan for staffing purposes.

April 9: Infants to 3's Spring Picture Day

April 10: Pre-K Cap & Gown & Spring Picture Day
(Don't forget to send in your $20 for your child's cap and gown by March 29.)

April 25: CDC Spaghetti Fundraiser & Silent Auction Dinner 6pm-8pm in Swetenburg Hall (please note this year's event is on a Thursday - more details to follow)

May 10: 9am Muffins with Mom for all Classes

This Week's Theme

Fairy Tales

Our week should be fun and exciting as the children play and read and learn about fairy tales. Remember those great stories like Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs? Children have so much fun playing together and acting out these stories. They open a great world of imagination.

Coming this Spring on THURSDAY, April 25....

Join us for our annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser - we hope to connect with even more families by moving this special event to a Thursday evening. You'll have an opportunity to shop our bookfair, bid on silent auction items, purchase raffle tickets (including the opportunity to win a week of free tuition), and hear our children sing! The cost is $6/adult, $3/child with a family dinner maximum cost of $17.

Small Business Donations

We are preparing for our annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on THURSDAY, April 25 this year. If you know of a small business that would be willing to make a donation for our silent auction - please let Susan or Kara know. Donation forms as well as recognition of their company will be given. This fundraiser helps us keep our tuition rates low while providing necessary upgrades for the CDC. Thank you for your support of our program!

Illness Reminder

Parents we need your help. Please keep your child home if any of the above symptoms have occurred. If all our staff is sick who will care for the children? If your child is sick the night before school he/she will not be illness free a few hours later to come to school. Remember they must be 24 hours fever/symptom free withOUT medication or they are spreading the illness to everyone they come in contact with. Thank you for your help in keeping us well!

Monday's Unexpected Fire Alarm

Yesterday afternoon we had an unexpected smoky smell that we could not determine the cause of. As a result, we pulled our fire alarm and evacuated the building immediately. As a result, some children waited outside without jackets and we apologize. We tried to have a staff member re-enter the building and retrieve jackets as we were able. The fire department was not able to determine the cause of the smokey smell either but the safety of our children was most important. We are grateful to the Gainesville Fire Department for their quick response yesterday!

Handwashing

We want to minimize the spread of germs as best we can at the Child Development Center. We thought it would be good to share with you the procedures we teach our children as young as our crawler class on how to wash their hands. Please continue this habit at home with your child to help instill this important routine.

Late Fees

Our late pick-up fees are necessary due to the overtime we are paying our teachers for staying late. Please work to be on time in the evenings. Please keep the CDC's phone number (770-532-8188) programmed in your cell phone in case you are running late so that the center can let your child know that you are on your way. If you are late picking up your child, you will be charged according to the chart below. Payment will be added to the following week's tuition bill.

6:00-6:15 $20.00

6:15-6:30 $20.00 + $10.00

6:30-6:45 $20.00 + $10.00 + $10.00
