Effective Today the Parish and
McAnthony Window will be Closed
Dear St. Anthony Parishioners,

It has come to my attention that a person who was in our the parish center last Tuesday has since tested positive for COVID-19. Please pray for this person and all those effected.

Effective today, we are closing the parish and McAnthony Window. This will mean that we can not video tape Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter Masses.

My recommendation would be to tune into the Palm Sunday and Holy Week Masses at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Davenport. Bishop Zinkula will be presiding at the Holy Week Masses. Beginning with Palm Sunday, you can watch all of these Masses on Facebook Live by CLICKING HERE.

We are deeply saddened to have to close McAnthony Window. This could quite possibly be the first time its been closed since it opened in 1987. We are equally disappointed to not be able to continue providing you with online Mass from our church. We know it has meant a lot to you.

We will continue with daily newsletters and zoom prayer during the days ahead. May God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Yours in Christ,

Father Apo

Saturday Prayer and Reflection with John Cooper
Comments about Last Evening's Zoom Prayer Experience

Zoom prayer last night with nearly 40 of our parishioners was a lot like Peter walking on the water to be with Jesus. When the technology gave us trouble in the beginning, it felt like we were walking on water to Jesus. Then trying to get almost 40 people to mute their phones was a lot like Peter looking down at the water and starting to sink. Just as Jesus reached out to grab Peter from sinking, Father Apo started with his opening prayer and we were once again safe. Thanks to those of you who joined us and were patient with our Zoom growing pains! Here's some of the feedback we received from participants...

Thanks for doing this. After everyone muted their phones, it went pretty well.

Thanks to all of you John for coordinating our Divine Mercy Chaplet!! It was wonderful!! I hate not being able to come to church. The only thing that was a little distracting was at the times the echo. I didn't even care though. I was so happy to just pray with everyone. Please thank everyone for me. God bless!!!!

I think it was beautiful! The only recommendation I have is maybe speak and not sing the divine mercy chaplet because of the feedback and echoing? Thank you and everyone else for putting this together. It was much appreciated and will get better over time...

John and other participants, we really enjoyed tonight’s prayer service. The confusion at the beginning was certainly understandable, and Liz and I had a laugh or two over it. It was a beautiful service and was appreciated at this time of distress and uncertainty in our community and country. We hope this type of outreach will be repeated in the future. Thanks to those participating and for the effort to reconnect are parish family again.

Thank you for tonight! As an educator, we learned today in our faculty meeting that ZOOM is being overwhelmed with remote learning so I'm not surprised there were technical difficulties. Regardless, it will take a few times to smooth out the details. Again, thanks to you and Father Apo. Elliana sure misses her friend :)

Good job kudos.

Thank you for the prayer service tonight, I really enjoyed it and I look forward to the next call!

Last nights prayer service is just what I needed after a day of such stress concerning this virus. It was comforting knowing my fellow parishioners. And Fr were with me. And what a turnout! During the chaplet prayer, there was some echoing, but, I could still follow along. I had printed out the service.

Thank you for your prayer service with parishioners. It gave peace in a time of turmoil.

Father and Everyone, First of all, I am very happy you are doing this. The great thing is that you can't let us down no matter and we won't let you down. God is on our side. Next time everyone will know what to expect, how to mute and things will be smooth. I did feel the same as when we pray together at church. You all did a very good job of this. Soon it will be like we are teleconferencing for work and no pressure. Also the services on video is working too! Thank you so much.

Father Apo, John, Louis, Tonia, and Ashley,
We were in awe of the Zoom First Friday. It was wonderful especially to hear everyone’s voices, as it has been so long for Ken and I,as we have been in Florida. Words cannot express how meaningful this was, as I love the Divine Mercy Chaplet. We want to thank you, all of you for taking time, out of your busy lives, to do this for us. Hope next time it will be at Church, thank you so much.God Bless, be safe and stay healthy.

A Little Palm Sunday Humor

It was Palm Sunday  but because of a sore throat, 5-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm fronds. Johnny asked them what they were for.
"People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by," his father told him.
"Wouldn't you know it," Johnny fumed, "the one Sunday I don't go and he shows up."
