This is young Daniel shown in the photo. He's four years old, and is the little guy I personally sponsor through Haiti Cheri's medical adoption program. It seems appropriate that I would sponsor Daniel as we share the same first name! He's a regular visitor to the clinic in Cap-Haitien, and I'm thrilled that the small sum of $10 per month is having such an impact on his life.

In case you are wondering, our medical adoption program is specifically oriented toward meeting the base medical needs of Haiti's kids. It functions somewhat like an insurance program would in the U.S., and we are not aware of any similar programs in Haiti. Sponsored kids can receive up to four well-check visits per year. This is important as so many of the medical problems in Haiti are preventable. Our objective through this program is prevention, so we can get ahead of problems before they happen. It is better to prevent than to react. If problems do arise, then a sponsored child can receive medical care at our clinic, as well as any prescription medicine we have in stock. All of this happens with a monthly donation of only $10 per month. This program has very high impact, branching out to many aspects of life. For example, many kids miss school because they are sick. Because they are sick for a long period of time, they may get behind. Then, the cascading situation may cause them to drop out entirely. Medical solutions are desperately needed for so many reasons, and we are here to serve.
