During this semester, Hindu Spiritual Advisor Partha Biswas will draw out many practical wisdom texts from the timeless classic, Bhagavad Gita, to empower us to courageously face the tough times and stay positive in our outlook. We all go through challenges in life, but the current conditions around the world are pushing the challenges to their limits. In this unprecedented state of affairs filled with uncertainties, we all need a fortification at a different level, which can fill us with inner security and peace. The program will begin with 15 minutes of meditation, followed by a 30 minute interactive discussion.
Virtual Muslim Study Circle

Our Thursday night Study Circle (Halaqa) will explore a classic manual of Islamic belief and theology (aqida) called Sharh al-Kharida, written by the 18th century Egyptian scholar Imam Ahmad al-Dardir. It is a commentary on a short poem called "The Lustrous Pearl" (al-Kharida) which covers the essential points of faith that all Muslims must know. Our conversations will cover the "Big Questions" that many ask, including "does God exist?" "how is God known and described?" "does God send prophets?" "how do we know what is true, good, and right?" "what is the nature of the human being?"and so on. We will also connect these classic questions to contemporary concerns and inquiries.

All are welcome to this virtual study circle. Contact Chaplain Spevack with any questions.

Re-imagining Public Safety on Campus
December 2nd at 12 pm
Students are invited to provide input to the process for re-imagining public safety on our campus. What is your sense of safety on campus overall and in specific locations? What factors impact your sense of safety at Brandeis? What else would you like to say about feeling safe on campus? Share your thoughts at one of the upcoming open forums for undergraduate students (Nov 17, 5:30, and Dec 2, 12 noon) that will be facilitated by our independent experts, Brenda Bond-Fortier (PhD’06) and Christi Hurt. Attendance at each of these forums will be limited to fifty people so that there is an opportunity for everybody to provide individual input; therefore, advance registration is important. If the participation for any forum approaches the limit, additional forums will be scheduled to ensure that everyone interested has an opportunity to attend.
