In a few short weeks, the TCD Spring Season for all four of our leagues will come to an end. I hope this has been a time of growth and development for you in your tennis skills and strategies, but most of all, growth and development in your tennis friendships. As we plan and play our final matches, I hope you will put FUN at the top of your mental checklists, and that you and your teammates end this season with lots of great tennis memories.
Your Board of Directors continues to look ahead and “think outside of the box.” As we begin our self-studies and evaluate the needs of our organization, we want to continue to invite you to join with us in our efforts. To remain viable for the future, TCD must G-R-O-W. What suggestions do you have for growing our leagues? Do you know players who are standing on the sidelines wanting to get involved? Have you given consideration to being that person who steps up and helps them find existing teams on which to play, or perhaps, spearhead the effort to start new teams? TCD is always open for business and new “customers” are always welcome! Let us know what we can and should be doing to keep our 4 leagues growing and going strong.
Finally, before the final hand shake at the net of the final match of the spring season is here, let’s all take a few minutes to give a thought or two to the PEOPLE who have made the effort to grow our tennis experiences in the very best of ways: our TEAM CAPTAINS, our VOLUNTEERS and those who have shown outstanding SPORTSMANSHIP in our matches. TCD honors our Outstanding Team Captain of the Year (the TCD Founder’s Award--“The Dixie Cup”), our Volunteer of the Year (the Phyllis Brennan Award), and our Outstanding Sportsperson (the Cindy Brinker Simmons Sportsmanship Award) in the fall, but
now
is the time to nominate those people who have made that exceptional difference for you this spring. Please find a few minutes to reflect on this season and nominate those people whom you feel would make worthy candidates. Contact me with your nominations for The Dixie Cup and the Phyllis Brennan Volunteer Award at TCDPresident2019@gmail.com and use the form online to nominate for the Cindy Brinker Simmons Sportsmanship Award. (THANKS to those of you who already have!)
“Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.”
(James Cash Penney)
Spring has brought TCD a season of pronounced growth and development upon which to build for the future. Let’s continue to work together to keep TCD strong!
