KINGS BOND INFORMATION
As we are approaching the November 5 election, the District is committed to providing the facts associated with the facilities bond issue that is on the ballot. This week we are explaining the what?, why? , and why now?

What: A bond issue is different from an operating levy. A bond issue is how school districts obtain revenue for construction purposes. By law, bond dollars may only be used for capital costs like building construction and/or renovations, and vehicle and equipment purchases. It cannot be used for salaries.

Why: In the last five years, the District has seen an increase of over 600 students. To put that growth in perspective, that is enough students to fill one whole school building. Take South Lebanon Elementary for example. That building was built for 559 students, based on the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) formula. The current enrollment is 542. We are challenging our building capacities by the increased enrollment.  At that rate of growth, consultants have projected that conservatively, Kings will have an enrollment over 5,000 by the 2022-2023 school year. Currently enrollment is 4,666.

Why now: Kings is simply running out of space. It takes three years for the planning, designing and construction of new school buildings. That means buildings financed by a bond passed in November will not open until 2022 at the earliest, with hundreds of new students continuing to arrive in the meantime.

We have created a website that explains the District's "WHY." Check it out!

Send an email to masterplan@kingslocal.net with any questions or concerns you have. Who knows, someone else may be looking for the same answer!
Join Us for Community Bond Information Nights
Join us to learn more about the upcoming bond issue.

On Tuesday, November 5, Kings Local Schools will seek the passage of a bond issue for school construction and renovation. The passage of this 4.96 mill bond will finance the first part of the District’s master facility plan to address growing enrollment.

Kings Superintendent, Tim Ackermann will be hosting three Community Bond Information Nights in September to give more information and answer any questions our community may have regarding the bond issue.

Please join us on any one of the dates below and feel free to invite your friends and neighbors, especially those who don't have children in the schools.

We hope to see you!
KFB Knights Tradition
A senior bursting from a cloud of smoke and waving the American flag has become a tradition for our Kings Football Team. This season it was extra special for Senior Xavier Legault. Xavier has grown up in a military household. When he came home after finding out that he would be bearing a flag, he asked his parents to buy him one.

Xavier's father, Damon told him that there was no need to purchase a new flag because he already had one for him. When Xavier was a little boy, his father was deployed to Kuwait. While there, he had flags flown on a C-130 Combat Mission for each of his sons. The flags have been boxed and stored to give to them for a special event.

Xavier's mother, Sara said, "Damon was so proud to give Xavier his flag to lead his team and prepare them for their battle!" She said that given this task of bearing the flag is truly an honor. "So this season, each time you see that flag burst from the smoke, I hope you remember this story and think of our Military," she said.
