Historical Tidbit: Raynham Iron Works Iron works were the dominant industry in Raynham for more than two centuries. The importance that was attached to iron works is apparent from the town seal, which depicts the iron works along with the date 1652. The Raynham iron works were not the oldest in the state. Iron works in Lynn, Saugus, and Braintree were started prior to those in Raynham. However, the iron works in Raynham have the distinction of being the iron "manufactory" that was in continuous operation for the longest period of time. The iron works continued to operate in Raynham until 1873. From "A Brief History of Raynham" by Kathleen Roberts, Raynham Historical Commission

Bridgewater - Raynham Credit For Life Fair on Thursday May 23rd.
Needs community volunteers.
The event will run from 7:45am to 12:00 noon.

This is a great opportunity for anyone with connections to the BR community to support financial literacy education. Volunteers don’t need to be financial experts – good general understanding of fundamental financial decisions is perfectly fine (i.e. implications of credit and income on lifestyle choices).
Contact David Ferreira, the BR Teacher who coordinates this event with questions.

Attached is a Volunteer form. Interested volunteers should return these to David Ferreira (david.ferreira@bridge-rayn.org) as soon as possible and request a CORI form

GFWC Taunton and Raynham Junior Woman's Club .Club members celebrated March as Women's History Month by introducing a short biography on Gerda Lerner, known as the 'Mother' of Women's History Month., presented by Nancy Brown, Women's History and Resource chairman, and welcomed guest speaker Mary Njeri to speak about her life in Kenya before coming to the United States. (Pictured with Vice President Robin Gendron )
In honor of Dr. Seuss's 115th birthday, member Nancy Brown ,AKA The Cat in the Hat, along with education chairwoman Nancy Martin, visited Triumph Head Start in Taunton. The Cat in the Hat story was read to a crowd of over 100 preschoolers., and each child was given a coloring page and hat. The Taunton and Raynham Junior Woman's Club also donated several Dr. Seuss books along with a stuffed Cat in the Hat to the school. Members actively volunteer in the community and also hold fundraisers to provide scholarships to local students and to contribute to local charities. In addition to their volunteer work they also offer other activities where members can socialize with each other strengthening the bond of friendship and sisterhood. Several members recently attended an 80th Anniversary viewing of the iconic film Gone With the Wind. Women 18 or older interested in the club may contact Joyce at 508 824-3382 or go to  www.tauntonraynhamjrs.org  for more information.

cha·os the·o·ry
noun

the branch of mathematics that deals with complex systems whose behavior is highly sensitive to slight changes in conditions, so that small alterations can give rise to strikingly great consequences. Like a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil sets off a tornado in Texas.

Often life resembles this; small movements & small statements have large responses. I find especially with those who are nursing emotional or physical wounds. Small kindnesses can mean the world, or seemingly small sharp remarks can make the wound unbearably deep.

Chaos Theory was also developed to illustrate that there is no order, that the infinite amount of variables cause our world to have no predictability. We keep on trying: the stock market, the weather, our future... and yet, we can't predict.

We can do what we think is right, we can attempt to hedge our bets with education, skills, positive relationships, but really, all we can do is our best today.

Be the best person we can be... and know that the world is an canvas, ready for our little flutter of greatness.
Franklin D. Roosevelt said "There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still."

I can't wait to feel your flutter ~ Jacquie
