Summer is off to a great start!
We are entering the second week of the OLLI summer session
CANVAS
Canvas (Northwestern’s Learning Management Platform) is the way to access your virtual classroom.

  • Log in using your NetID and NetID password. This may be different from what you use to log into the OLLI online registration system.
  • Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive; make sure your caps lock is not on.
  • Re-type your password each time you log in, as your computer may pre-fill with an incorrect password.

NEED HELP?
Submit a ticket to the OLLI Help Desk OR email olli@northwestern.edu, but please DO NOT do both, as this causes confusion and extra processing.

*Please DO NOT contact Northwestern's IT department. They are not familiar with our program or membership. In addition, you will likely receive longer wait times as they are supporting all Northwestern students.
Your Role in OLLI’s Peer-Led Experience

  • Prepare: Carefully and purposefully read assigned material and discussion questions in advance. Consider ideas, arguments, or views presented in the selection. Highlight, make notes, and identify questions you want to explore.
  • Participate: Enter the conversation, sharing your ideas succinctly and with focus. Listen actively and respectfully to the ideas and opinions of others.
  • Volunteer to be a Discussion Leader: Discussion leaders are needed every week for the peer-led experience to be a success. Coordinators look to study group members to play this important, fun, and rewarding role. Whenever possible, volunteer to be a discussion leader, alone or with a partner.

This Fall Term
OLLI is BACK, BLENDED, BETTER
BACK:
Northwestern OLLI will be back on campus this fall.
Given the vastly improved local health landscape and the significant progress we have made in planning a return to campus, OLLI will return to in-person experiences this fall.

BLENDED:
Enjoy both on campus and virtual experiences.
Because we have discovered so many unexpected benefits of virtual learning during this last year, we will continue to offer some virtual experiences in addition to our in-person experiences.

BETTER:
Coming back better than ever.
In addition to the outstanding peer-led learning, programming, and community you previously enjoyed, OLLI will be better than ever by offering more choice, convenience, and community.

OTHER NEWS
Notification of Passing

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of past OLLI member Phil Alexander. Phil became an OLLI member in 1997 and was a respected friend of his poetry classmates. Phil will be greatly missed by his family and all of his friends at OLLI. For more information - Click Here.
LIBRARY INFORMATION
Northwestern Main Library is Open
Library stacks are now open, and OLLI members can access the Main Library building in Evanston. Opening the stacks means that the Hathi Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS), which provided digital access to about 80% of our print books, has ceased since the physical books are available once again.

Schaffner Library on the Chicago campus remains closed through summer.

Entering Main Library: We recommend that you bring your Wildcard to save time when checking in at the Welcome Desk. If you do not have a Wildcard you will need to show a photo ID, such as your driver's license, state Identification card, or passport.

Those who are not fully vaccinated need to bring a mask and wear it while in the Library. The University is no longer requiring patrons to show their Symptom Tracker status. Reservations are not required to enter the library. The Circulation Desk will be open to check out books and accept returns but most of the other service desks will be closed for summer.

Hours:
Building Hours menu is at top of library homepage screen or call for info at (847) 491-7658.

July 4 Holiday: NU Libraries will be completely closed beginning Thursday, July 1, through Monday, July 5. We will reopen on Tuesday, July 6 at 8:00am.
