Dear Sts. Simon & Jude School families,

Today was a very productive day full of learning and yes a few challenges for our faculty and staff.  As we begin our distance learning please note that all school policies remain in effect, including: grading policies, acceptable use policies and academic integrity policies.  With guidance from the Diocese our faculty is working to provide students a continuum of learning opportunities while maintaining our high academic standards.  We realize that this is a time of change and change is hard for all ages.  As we move forward with the various tools (new and existing) for distance learning let us all remember the one never changing constant; love is patient and kind.

During this time of distance learning the teachers will be working remotely from 8am to 3pm.  The Diocese Distance Learning Plan has provided every grade level with protocols addressing subject time allotment, frequency of assignments and student response, and grading response turn-around time. Each teacher has designated office hours (schedule to follow) for parents and students to receive help and clarification of assignments and instruction.  As of this writing our office will be staffed during school hours (8-3) to answer phones and respond to emails.  Of course, you may email any of the faculty, staff, or administration with questions and we will make every effort to respond in a timely manner.

We have prepared for tomorrow a packet/ipad pick-up plan for those students in grades Kindergarten to 3rd grade as follows: Tuesday, March 17th

    Last Name                    Last Name
    A -L   9:30 - 12:00        M - Z  12:00 - 3:00

Please drive up as you would on a rainy day drop-off and we will bring the packet/ipad to your car.

During these turbulent days I am thankful of the unwavering commitment and positivity of the faculty, staff, and parents at SSJ.  Admittedly, my first week here in your community has been eventful, but I can honestly say that not once have I regretted my decision to be a part of your family.

Please see the attachments " Easing the Transition to Distance Learning and Coronavirus / COVID-19 FAQs" for helpful information from the Diocese.

Peace in Christ,
Mrs. Denise P. Grant
Principal, Sts. Simon & Jude School
