Students to Receive Sacraments

As a Catholic school community, we are so glad to be able to assist parents, the primary teachers, in preparing their children to receive the Sacraments. Our faith is a precious gift and it is passed on to children mainly by the example and teaching of their parents. Please join us in praying for the following students who are preparing to receive Sacraments this Spring.
Preparation for the Sacraments goes through the season of Lent, with our students making their First Reconciliation during this holy time. Baptism and First Communion takes place after Easter as we rejoice in the saving power of Jesus' resurrection.

Our Second Graders will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on April 30th at 6:30 pm.

SCHOOL LENTEN PROJECT

We are so thankful for the many blessings we receive each day. During Lent, our school community will bless others by bringing in canned goods during the week and offering them up at our Wednesday Masses. Together, we can do so much more and in this way, we can provide assistance to the St. Ignatius Pastoral Center and St. Vincent de Paul Society who prepare food for the needy each day and hand out bags of groceries to needy families each Friday.
Although we will not attend Mass this Wednesday, students are still encouraged to bring in canned goods for next week's Mass.
Did You Know...

  • that two of our students earned first places in the recent Chess Mates tournament?
  • that ballet folkorico is open to students in grades 1-8?

Financial Responsibilities

A friendly reminder to all families who are making tuition payments on the 5th of the month that the April payment will soon be due.

Thank you to all families who have been able to make their tuition payments consistently. You help make it possible to maintain our school program and keep our doors open through your tuition payments and fundraising efforts. If you are behind in any payments, PLEASE MAKE FULL OR PARTIAL PAYMENTS THIS WEEK. Our next payroll will depend on everyone, especially those who have not made all payments, to fulfill their commitments. If ALL families pay what was agreed upon in their contract over the next three weeks, we will be able to cover two payrolls ($64,000). Please make your payments today and do not let other parents carry your financial responsibility.
TOGETHER IN MISSION-HELPING OUR SCHOOLS/PARISHES STAY OPEN.
Thank you to all families who have completed their Together In Mission (TIM) pledge payment. As our school contract states, each family, TK-8, has promised to donate a minimum of $75 to the TIM appeal each year. Our school is blessed to receive TIM funds each year to help with operational expenses, and we will only be considered if the parish meets its TIM goal each year. If you have not yet made your payment, please do so at the school office, or at the parish office, but be sure to request a receipt for proof of payment! Special envelopes were sent home for this donation.

If you did not make your TIM payment for last year, you received a reminder several weeks ago. Please be sure to send in your payment as soon as possible.
CONTRACT MEETINGS

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT RE-REGISTRATION FEES FOR 2019-2020 NEED TO BE PAID BY THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR. YOU CAN STOP BY THE OFFICE OR CALL AND PAY OFF YOUR BALANCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BUT NO LATER THAN JUNE 1ST. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY FINANCIAL SUPPORT THAT IS OFFERED FOR NEXT YEAR WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IF RE-REGISTRATION FEES ARE PAID IN FULL BY THE DUE DATE. THE DATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED FROM MARCH 31 TO JUNE 1 TO ACCOMMODATE PAYMENTS. FAILURE TO PAY RE-REGISTRATION FEES WILL RESULT IN THE FORFEIT OF ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THAT IS OFFERED DURING CONTRACT MEETINGS. This is a new policy that had to be implemented because we currently have over $13,000 in outstanding re-registration fees for the 2018-2019 year and is a financial burden the school cannot bear.

If you have returned your re-registration form, and would like to request tuition assistance, please use one of the links below to sign up for a Contract Meeting to get you all set for next year.
Thank you!

VIRTUS TRAINING

Parents who plan to volunteer at school during the coming school year must be Virtus trained. Virtus is the child safety training program that all adults who work and volunteer around children at church or school must complete. It focuses on appropriate interactions with children. There is no cost to you. Virtus certification must be updated every four years through a 1 1/2 hour re-certification class. You must complete Virtus 1 before doing a re-certification. The safety of our children is extremely important to all. Please be sure to attend a training if you plan on volunteering/helping out at school.

To find locations for Virtus training please click on the link below and scroll to (Archdiocese of) Los Angeles location. St. Ignatius falls under the San Fernando Region, but you may attend a Virtus class in any of the five Regions in LA County.

Please be sure to obtain a certificate and bring it to the school office so we can make a copy for our files. All Staff, Parent Board, Room Parents, and Volunteers must be Virtus trained for the safety of our students.
