Concord Rejects Public Art Fee
With BIA|Bay Area voicing strong opposition, the Concord City Council rejected a proposed public art impact fee on new development or to establish a minimum investment level in public art required of projects. The council did, however, direct staff to craft an ordinance that mandates the inclusion of a publicly accessible art component in new developments through conditions of approval. Full Story 
East Palo Alto Development Impact Fees
The City of East Palo Alto is on track to raise impact fees on all development, including single family and multifamily projects.  The City has released a Development Impact Fee Program Nexus Study (December 2018) to assess the revenue from projected new development to fund infrastructure upgrades in the City. Santa Clara Parks Fees Stakeholder Meeting
In a nod to BIA Bay Area objections, the City of Santa Clara has finally released a revised nexus study intended to support the adoption of higher fees on all new residential projects. Additionally, the City will present the new study at a stakeholder community meeting for January 22, 2019, 3:00PM - 4:00PM at the Santa Clara Senior Center - 1303 Fremont Street Rm 232.  Full Story

Applications for next year's New Gen Class are still open. New Gen is an organization designed to empower and educate those new to the building industry. Through educational seminars and field trips, each class will gain an understanding of the life cycle of the project, while developing long lasting relationships with the members of their class and the participating builders.  Limit: 2 participants per company.
