Rachel Mead
Class of 2019
Rachel Mead will be attending Cornell University in the fall to major in Engineering. Rachel is Environmental Club President, Treasurer of English Honor Society and Math Honor Society, a member of Science Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Technology Student Alliance. She was the squad leader in Marching Band for three years, was the Top Sophomore and Top Junior Marcher. Rachel has played clarinet in Pit Orchestra and Marching Band for the past four years. She is Captain of the Warren Hunterdon Academic Meet (WHAM) and was a member of the winning team for the Winter meet in 2017. Rachel’s favorite classes at North are AP Computer Science, AP World History, and AP Biology. Mr. Sorg’s computer science class cultivated a passion for computer science that she hopes to continue to pursue in college. The course was fun, challenging, and rewarding. Mr. Yocum’s history class taught Rachel a lot in one year and has helped her play along with Jeopardy. She enjoyed class debates such as the Trial of Genghis Khan. Mrs. Flynn’s Biology class was taught in a unique way that helped her remember all the different vocabulary. She enjoyed the fantastic stories that were told that made her laugh and remember the functions of different biological components.
Rachel has volunteered at the YMCA for the last 5 years as a martial arts teacher for children and adults. She was Volunteer of the Month in 2014 and won the Ralph Muzzy Youth Leadership Award in 2016. She also volunteers at America’s Grow-A-Row for three years as a camp counselor. Some of Rachel’s favorite memories from North were building bridges out of tongue depressors, dowels, zip ties, and glue with some of her closest friends; presenting her MadLib project as her final AP Computer Science project and presenting it again at STEM Night; and coming out of the tunnel at MetLife Stadium and performing the field show Queen with the marching band in December 2017 at the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 4 Football Championship game.

Stephen Maliszewski
Class of 2019
Senior Stephen Maliszewski will be attending Florida Institute of Technology in the fall to major in Computer Science. Stephen’s favorite classes at North have been his computer and mathematics classes. These classes showed him how much he enjoys both math and programming. Before taking computer science, he had no interest in programming and had never thought about becoming a programmer. After taking the class, he realized he really enjoys programming and is glad North gave him the opportunity to take the class.
Stephen is a member of the Math Honor Society and Latin Club. His favorite memories from North were getting to meet some of his best friends who he hopes will remain his friends well after graduation. Stephen works part-time at Walmart as a cart associate and has done some volunteer activities.

The team’s biggest competition this year will be Delaware Valley Regional High School. North lost to Del Val in the Hunterdon Warren Sussex Playoffs two years in a row. Their goal is to beat them this year. Will’s personal goal is to reach 22 goals by the end of the season. NJ Student Learning Assessment
|
|
|
The New Jersey Student Learning Assessments will take place on April 11-12 for Mathematics and April 15-16-17 for English Language Arts.
Freshmen and sophomores who are enrolled in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, English 9, and/or English 10 will participate in the NJSLA assessment on the days listed above. (Juniors do not have to take NJSLA unless they have not yet proved proficiency on another standardized test for graduation.) Please note that students must take all units of each NJSLA assessment in order to receive a reported score.
We will be running two bus runs on testing days. All students taking the test need to come to school at the regular time. Students not taking the test can get on their bus 2 ½ hours later than their regular pick-up time. We will be following the below two-and-a-half-hour delayed-opening bell schedule once testing for that day has ended.
