Announcement to Field on CEO Selection

We are excited to announce that Bridget Weston has accepted our offer to become the CEO of the SCORE Association.

Bridget has been serving very effectively as our Acting CEO since August of last year. In that time, Bridget has brought new passion, energy and ideas to our organization. We have all come to appreciate Bridget’s dedication to creating an environment of accountability, transparency and consensus-building. During her tenure as Acting CEO, Bridget oversaw the early implementation of our centralized accounting system and worked with congressional staff to assure our continued federal funding. Most recently, she has led SCORE’s extraordinary efforts to provide our mentors with resources and tools to assist small business owners during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bridget earned her MBA from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She joined SCORE in 2010 and served as our Vice President of Marketing & Communications prior to taking on the Acting CEO role. She has been involved in virtually every aspect of our organization as our change management leader, a member of the Futures Task Force and a leader on our 2020 tactical plan.

The CEO Selection Committee, comprised of four board members, led a thorough search of the national market using KOYA Partners, a firm that specializes in nonprofit executive searches. KOYA and the Search Committee iteratively reviewed and reduced the 37-candidate pool to the 10 leading candidates. After another round of review, the 10-candidate pool was reduced to the top four. After interviewing these candidates, the CEO Search Committee advanced the top three candidates to the CEO Search Panel, comprised of a SCORE mentor, two board members and the Acting Vice President of Field Operations. Both the Search Committee and the Search Panel recommended Bridget to the board of directors, which overwhelmingly approved Bridget for this position. This thorough process provided all of us, both internally and externally, the assurance that Bridget is exactly the right person for this role.

Please join me in congratulating Bridget! Under her leadership, we look forward to a vibrant and flourishing future for our organization, and for the tens of thousands of small businesses we serve each year.
