Social Justice & Media Symposium

The inaugural symposium on Social Justice & Media will convene for a free full-day discussion at Emerson College in Boston on February 28 to explore the intersection of social justice and media as it relates to community and pedagogy in daily life. This event for elementary school teachers, and middle and high school humanities teachers will define what media literacy is and how teachers can implement these lessons in the classroom. U.S. Media Literacy Report

Media Literacy Now recently completed their U.S. Media Literacy Report 2020, a state-by-state progress report for media literacy education laws in K-12 schools. The report outlines both legislative successes and areas for improvement as well as recommendations to ensure that media literacy is an active part of every student’s education. [ learn more ]

Resources List

Media Literacy Now has a new media literacy resources list for teachers, parents and students. The various resources can also be sorted by topic — including news literacy, digital citizenship, gender and health — and by community-based resources in some states. [ learn more]

CFS: 2020 "What's Your Story?"

Trend Micro invites individuals ages 13 and older who are enrolled in school (K-12, college, university, film school), and school representatives to submit an entry for the 2020 "What's Your Story?" video competition. Entrants are asked to create a two minute video which answers the question, "If the internet disappeared, what would your life be like?" The grand prize is $10,000.
