The Mahoning Soil & Water Conservation District was organized in June 1950 as the 82nd SWCD in Ohio. Strong agriculture, combined with a large, urban population, created a need for the Mahoning district to deal with a wide variety of land use situations. It's celebrating its 70th anniversary this month. Our staff is glad to carry on the legacy of Mahoning Soil & Water Conservation District's early days and we look forward to continuing to advance our programs, technical assistance and other offerings to support our county's conservation needs. We owe a major "thank you" to our board of supervisors, partners, farmers and producers and other county residents who work with us on a regular basis to ensure we're implementing the most effective conservation practices in our county.
