THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
THERESA BENSON
Sunday, August 8 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

As the centerpiece of our worship services this summer, the Worship Committee has crafted a Wellspring series that honors the connections that members of our congregation have to other religious traditions. To continue with the series, Interspiritual Reverend Theresa Benson shares how an Interspiritual Interfaith approach has developed and become a wellspring in her life. With this series, we invite all to reflect on the spiritual traditions and practices that enrich your own lives.

Volunteers Needed for Moving Church Furniture
If you’ve got a strong back (and maybe a lumbar belt), Tim would love your help moving office furniture, some couches, and removing some things from the building. The date isn’t set in stone yet but aiming for August. READ FULL POST HERE.
Volunteers Needed for Photo Identification
The religious education office has a giant, beautiful box of old photos. We do not know a lot of the names, events, and dates. Are there a few people willing to work with Kendra to identify? It would be a great gift for the new incoming staff. If you are willing to work on this project, please contact Kendra Gibson at re-assistant@uucuc.org
OUR CARING CONGREGATION
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org last Sunday, August 1.
From Michele Grove: An abundance of love to the Lifespan Religious Education leaders and full congregation for your dedication. July 31st was my last day with you all and I carry fond memories of our work together.  My thoughts and prayers will be with you as you enter this new phase of your ministry. In the words of Becky Densmore, you all are rockstars!

From Gail Cohen: Joy that my close friend Sheryl was able to get an appointment at the Dana-Farber Institute in Boston for Monday since her latest cancer diagnosis. Sorrow that there may not be further treatment available to her, but where there is life there is hope.

From Pat DeWalt: Joe and I have received many wonderful meals over the past several days as I recover from surgery. The meals have been a tremendous help to us during this time, but just as important are the love and support that we have received from our fellow UUs. It means so much to us; we are blessed and thankful. And the recovery is going very well.

From Elizabeth Simpson: Joy that a huge thistle is blooming in my yard, reminding me of Kari Alice Lynn, as I make plans to join with women to sing together in community this week. I’m so grateful for all the women who have and keep loving and working our way to visionary collective freedom.

From Karen Retzer: A mixture of a joy and sorrow: Mike and I along with my brother and sister-in-law took a road trip to Ohio to bury Karen’s parents’ ashes in two cemeteries with deep family roots. Glad we were able to do this together.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
GIVING AND GRATITUDE

During the month of August, we will support Partner for People & Place, which is a non-profit whose purpose is to reduce rural poverty in Haiti through sustainable economic development, forestry and farming.  It is governed by an unpaid Board of Directors, who are active problem-solvers from landscape architecture, city and regional planning, business, natural science, social work, engineering and community service.

JP (Jatrofa Projenou) is their rural development center in Haiti.
JP is a community agroforestry/economic development center, located in Terrier Rouge, Haiti. It has a Haitian staff skilled in agriculture, forestry, industrial arts, and small business. It contains a farm, a tree nursery, and a light manufacturing and training facility.
